Blog Tour: Fury (The Seven Deadly #3) by Fisher Amelie

   Fury

Amazon ** Barnes and Noble ** iBooks ** Kobo

FURY Synopsis:

Revenge is an euphoric thing. Trust me on this. Nothing compares to the release you get when you ruin someone’s life. When they’ve stolen important things. Things that didn’t belong to them. Things I revel in making them pay for.

What? Have I offended you? I’m not here to appeal to your delicate senses. I have no intention of placating your wishes or living within your personal belief system nor do I care if you hate me. And you will hate me. Because I’m a brutal, savage, cold-blooded murderer and I’m here for my revenge.

I’m Ethan Moonsong...And this is the story about how I went from the world’s most sacrificing man to the most feared and why I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

My Thoughts:

I adore, The Seven Deadly Sins Series.  Each story has  more depth to it than what at first meets the eye.  These stories are meaningful in the fact that they are full of life lessons and pearls of wisdom.  The characters are real, flawed, and very human, making them appealing and relatable.

Fury was a spectacular read!  I felt so many raw emotions as I read this story; sadness, fear, anger, anticipation, and hope.  The story begins with the main character, Ethan Moonsong, being in a very dark place mentally and emotionally.  He hasn't dealt with the loss of his mother, and now to top it off, he just lost the only girl that he's ever loved to another guy, and wants revenge.  Ethan spends his days sleeping, and his nights binge drinking.

On one such night, he runs in to an old friend from high school, Finley Dyer.  She is full of life, spunk, and has a tell-it-like-it-is attitude.  From this moment in time on, Finley takes it upon herself to be a friend when Ethan needs it the most.  However, Finley lets Ethan know that she is going away to Vietnam for a year to do charity work.  Finley won't straight out tell Ethan what she is doing, and he gets a bad feeling that she is about to embark on something very dangerous.  After Ethan does some research using clues from his conversations with Finley, he finds out what she is doing, and it is indeed extremely dangerous.  After a talk with his father, he decides to go to Vietnam, and protect Finley at all costs.  Little does he know, but his life is about to change forever.

Fury was slow moving for the first 30% of the story, as the author established the relationship between Ethan and Finley.  However, once Ethan lands in Vietnam, the story takes off, and I could not put down my e-reader, even if I tried!  Fury was filled with intrigue, suspense, danger, action, and vigilante justice.  Ms. Amelie describe the beauty and picturesque Vietnam beautifully.  I felt like I was there, and could see all of the greenery, bustling streets, sights, and smell the delicious dishes native to the land.  The friends to lovers trope was a part of the plot, however it was not the focal point of the story.  Fury was balanced out with a variety of elements that came together to make a unique and unforgettable read.  More than anything, Fury, was about the human condition, being flawed, redemption, hope, and new beginnings.

I loved Ethan and Finley.  Ethan had so much emotion bottled up inside of him, and his pain was palpable through every page I read.  He was a realistic character that showed us how a human being can be flawed, make huge mistakes, but also be heroic, and loving.  I admired and respected Finley.  She had a traumatic, debilitating, and sad youth, yet she found a way to use her pain to become strong, and dedicate her life to helping others.

My Rating:

Fury was a masterpiece of the harsh realities of life, as well as the hope and good out in the world.  It was a powerful story and thought provoking read.  I give, Fury, by Fisher Amelie, 4.5 Enlightening, Kismet Filled Love, Vigilante Justice, Hopeful Stars!

FURY Excerpt #2:

“Fin, I’m sorry. I really am, but keeping me in the dark is, well, frankly cruel. Imagining where you were and what could happen was playing dirty tricks on me.”
She sighed, obviously angry with me. “Ethan, this feels so...”
     “So?”
“So rotten! Why couldn’t you have done the decent thing and just respected that I didn’t want you knowing?”
“I think the only reason you didn’t say anything was because you knew you could get hurt, Fin. Keeping me in the dark about something like that, that’s not cool, dude.”
“If I’d told you, you would have stopped me from going, right?” I didn’t answer. “Well?”
     “Well what?”
“If I had, would you have stopped me from going?
     “I don’t know,” I lied.

     “Lie!”
“Finley, it just would have been cool to have at least been informed. I felt like I was blindsided today. I’m-I’m worried about you.”
I could hear her slight breathing as she considered what I said.
“I know that, Ethan, but this-this is something that has to be done.” “Not by you, it doesn’t.”
“What the heck does that mean? You don’t think I’m capable of helping?”
“You are,” I insisted, meaning it. “It’s just that, well, what if you get into a situation where you can’t defend yourself?”
“I’ll be with plenty of people always,” she explained. I breathed through my nose, frustrated with her. I don’t know what I was hoping she would do or say by approaching her the way I had. I decided to come out with it.
“I think you should come home.”
She growled, actually growled. “Ethan Moonsong, you are about two seconds away from me hanging up this phone.”
“Finley, I’d like it if you could come home,” I asked as nicely as I could.
She laughed a little hysterically then lowered her voice. “Seriously, you are ridiculous. I’m wearing twenty-four hours’ worth of plane, which is not helping my nerves at all, not to mention the little fact that I had this trip planned way before you re-entered my life! And Ethan? I love you and all, but you can’t dictate what I do with that life. I’m already here, and I’d appreciate it if you could just get on board.”
Shit. “I don’t know if I can do that. I’m scared for you, Fin.”
She sighed. “I understand. I do, but I need to do this. Need it like a thirsty man needs water, Ethan, and there’s nothing you can do to stop me. I need this more than you need me home. I’m sorry, but this door is closed.”
“Finley, if you can die, it’s not worth it.”
Things got deadly quiet. So quiet I’d decided she’d stopped breathing.
“Some things are worse than death, Ethan,” she finally said with eerie calm.
“I’ve lost my mom, lost Caroline, Fin, and I’m tired of losing.” That was a low blow and I knew it. I opened my mouth to recant it but she stopped me by speaking first.
“This isn’t about you, Ethan. It never was.”
And with that, I heard a click and shortly after, a hauntingly empty beep.
