GR's Summary:

Bad enough Jade Frost’s boyfriend drags her to a boring poker game. Even worse that he actually threw her into the betting pot during an intense round…and lost. Talk about the perfect excuse for Jade to make him her ex-boyfriend.

Now she supposedly belongs to the ultra rich, extremely gorgeous Shep Prescott. He could have anything he wants yet he seems to be in hot pursuit of her. No matter how rude, how snarky, how impossible she acts, it doesn’t stop him. More like her horrible behavior seems to make him want her more.

When she finds herself starting to fall for him, Jade’s confused. There’s more to Shep than the carefree rich charmer he portrays. No way could he want a serious relationship with her…or could he?

My Thoughts:

Monica Murphy became one of my favorite authors, ever since I read her, One Week Girlfriend Series.  She has continued to deliver amazing stories, with memorable characters, swoon-worthy leading men, and strong, fierce leading ladies.  Other books that I have read and loved by Ms. Murphy include her Billionaire Bachelors Club Series, and the Fowler Sisters.   When I saw that she was coming out with a new series, The Rules, these books immediately moved to the very top of my TBR list.  Not to mention the fact that leading men Shep Prescott and Tristan Chadwick were introduced in, Five Days Until You, (a novella in the One Week Girlfriend Series,) which wet my appetite for more from these sexy, wealthy, womanizing male characters.

Fair Game begins with an entertaining scene, that will completely draw you in to the story.  Jade Frost is attending a high stakes poker game with her boyfriend.  He is playing against the privileged and infamous playboy, Shep Prescott.  The poker game takes an interesting turn when Jade's boyfriend, Joel, adds her as part of the pot, because he is so sure that he will win.  However, Shep pulls out the win, and now Jade is part of his "win."  While Jade is resistant to Shep's charm at first, he convinces her to go out on a date with him.  The chemistry, attraction, and connection between Jade and Shep grows.  However, Shep doesn't do relationships.  Will Jade be the one to break his top rule, "One and done," and commit, or is she going to just become another notch on his belt?

Jade and Shep were very entertaining characters.  I enjoyed getting to know them, and discovering how everything would play out between the two of them.  Jade lacked experience sexually, and the occasions where she had participated in physical intimacy had left her disappointed, and believing that something was wrong with her.  Shep came from a privileged life as far as money, prestige, and power were concerned.  However, his parents lead a superficial life, had a dysfunctional and loveless marriage, and didn't give their son the nurturing, love, and quality time that children long for.  This made Shep adamant about not getting involved in a monogamous and committed relationship.

The connection between Jade and Shep left me in a constant state of swoon.  These two had an intense sexual chemistry, and where in a constant state of hungry anticipation for one another.  As Shep started to open his heart, and let his walls down, I became excited for all of the promise and possibilities for these two characters.  While Jade and Shep's romance began based on chemistry and their lust for one another, it grew in to a meaningful relationship.  I fell in love with this romance, and can't wait to read about Gabe (Shep's best friend,) and Tristan (Shep's cousin) in the next two installments of The Rules Series!

My Rating:

I give, Fair Game, by Monica Murphy 4.5 Sensual Sexy Times, Romantic, "Swooning Over Shep" Filled Stars!  Ms. Murphy's fans are going to be extremely happy and satisfied with the first installment of this new series!  All of you romance lovers out there will love Fair Game!
