GR's Summary:

Caroline Reynolds has a fantastic new apartment in San Francisco, a KitchenAid mixer, and no O (and we’re not talking Oprah here, folks). She has a flourishing design career, an office overlooking the bay, a killer zucchini bread recipe, and no O. She has Clive (the best cat ever), great friends, a great rack, and no O.

Adding insult to O-less, since her move, she has an oversexed neighbor with the loudest late-night wallbanging she’s ever heard. Each moan, spank, and–was that a meow?–punctuates the fact that not only is she losing sleep, she still has, yep, you guessed it, no O.

Enter Simon Parker. (No, really, Simon, please enter.) When the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts her heard-but-never-seen neighbor. Their late-night hallway encounter has, well, mixed results. Ahem. With walls this thin, the tension’s gonna be thick…

In her third novel, Alice Clayton returns to dish her trademark mix of silly and steamy. Banter, barbs, and strutting pussycats, plus the sexiest apple pie ever made, are dunked in a hot tub and set against the gorgeous San Francisco skyline in this hot and hilarious tale of exasperation at first sigh

My Thoughts:

Wallbanger by Alice Clayton was a very entertaining, "laugh out loud" read that grabbed my attention right away.  The story is told exclusively from the main character, Caroline's, point of view.  Caroline is frustrated because she's been "O less" for months now.  Her last sexual encounter was horrible, and since then her "O" has disappeared.  She's tried many different ways to bring it back, but nothing has worked.  So, she decides to go on a dating hiatus, and just focus on her career as an interior designer, her friendships were her two best friends, Sophia and Mimi, and enjoying her brand new apartment that she is renting from her awesome boss and good friend, Jillian.

Caroline enjoys living in San Francisco, and her new apartment is like a dream come true. To top it off, Sophia and Mimi buy her a Kitchen Aide Mixer as a housewarming gift, which is the perfect gift for her considering that she has a passion for baking.  Then, her first night there, she has a sleepless night, when her next door neighbor's headboard is banging against her bedroom wall.  To top it off, her wall hanging comes crashing down and hits her in the head.  Exhaustion sets in when night after night she is subjected to her neighbor's wall banging, and the main screams, spanks, meows, and giggles of the women that he's sleeping with.  She tells Sophia, Mimi, and Jillian about the dreaded "Wallbanger" that is costing her precious sleep, and the ladies think it's hilarious.  Eventually, when Caroline has had enough, she pounds on her neighbors door to yell at him about his incessant wall banging.  This scene was hilarious, as Caroline didn't realize she was in her sexy pink nightie when she ran next door to confront him, and he just winks at her.

Once Caroline see's how sexy Simon is with his dark hair, beautiful deep blue eyes, strong jaw, and knockout body, she can't get him out of her mind.  She quickly finds herself fantasizing and dreaming about him, which makes her angry because she doesn't want to be added to his "harem" of girls.  Caroline and Simon's lives quickly become intersected as well as that of their close friends.  They decide to call a "truce," and try to become friends.  I loved how Caroline and Simons friendship developed at a good pace.  They really got to know each other, and I loved the way these two characters interacted with one another. There sarcastic, flirty, and teasing banter had me laughing throughout the book, as did Caroline's inner dialogue.  The chemistry between these two really built up, with all of the sexual tension.  They really were compatible, had fun with one another, and their relationship was believable.  I loved being the outsider looking in and seeing how these two were falling for one another, no matter how much they tried to deny it to themselves, and their best friends.

Ms. Clayton used so many beautiful settings in this story.  I could picture San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, and Nerja, Spain.  The descriptions were perfection, and I felt like I was traveling right along with Caroline and Simon.  I loved all of the characters.  They each had their own distinct and unique personalities.  The friendships and conversations felt genuine, and reminded me of the good times I have had with my own girlfriends talking about everything, and anything, and being silly at times.  What I loved the most about this story was that is was an amazing escape.  It was lighthearted, funny, and a happy story that didn't deal with serious issues, and angst.  Wallbanger is the perfect story if you just want to sit back, relax, laugh out loud, and have a good time!

My Rating:

I give Wallbanger by Alice Clayton 4 hilarious, sexy, fun, flirty, and passionate stars!  Read this story if you are in the mood to be surprised, amused, entertained, and swooned by a hot, and sexy male lead.  Simon will rock your world, and you'll be ready for round two!  I would love to read a sequel that included this cast of colorful, fun, and phenomenal characters!

About the Author:

Alice Clayton is a novelist with an unholy love for her KitchenAid mixer. Making her home in St Louis, she enjoys gardening but not weeding, baking but not cleaning up afterwards, and is trying desperately to get her long time boyfriend to make her an honest woman. Hi sweetie!!

After working for years in the cosmetics industry as a makeup artist, esthetician, and national educator for a major cosmetics company, Alice picked up a pen (read laptop) for the first time at 33 to begin a new career, writer. Combining her love of storytelling with a sense of silly, she was shocked and awed to be nominated for a Goodreads Author award in 2010 for her debut novels, The Redhead Series.

Alice has penned three novels, The Unidentified Redhead,The Redhead Revealed, and coming soon in November 2012, Wallbanger. She thinks you should purchase them immediately. She’s not kidding, not even a little bit. Everyone needs some comedic erotica in their lives. She is hard at work on the third book in The Redhead Series, set to release in Spring of 2013, continuing the saucy and sexual escapades of everyone’s favorite couple, Jack and Grace.

Additionally, Alice loves spending time with her besties on Not Your Mother's Podcast, make sure you check them out at notyourmotherspodcast.com or over on iTunes. 3 women rushing towards their forties still acting like teenagers. A saucy little mix of sex, love, relationships, pop cultural, celebrity gossip and All Things Jake Ryan.

Alice enjoys pickles, Bloody Mary’s, 8 hours of sleep, and a good pounding.

Finally Alice would also like all her readers and listeners to help her convince Mt. Alice that the only other thing that would make her truly happy is finally bringing home a Bernese Mountain Dog. She is totally serious. And done talking about herself in the third person…
