— JENNIFER L. ARMENTROUT, #1 New York Times bestselling author of WAIT FOR YOU

“This is forbidden love and longing done absolutely right! Complicated and sexy doesn't even begin to cover Lexie's journey.”

--JAY CROWNOVER, New York Times bestselling author of RULE

Have you ever gone just a little too far?

Lexie Banks has.

Yep. She just had mind-blowing sex with her stepbrother. In her defense, she was on the rebound, and it’s more of a my-dad-happened-to-marry-a-woman-with-a-super-hot-son situation. But still, he’s been her best friend and confidant for the better part of the last few years … and is so off limits. It’s a good thing she’s leaving in two days for a year abroad in Rome.

But even thousands of miles away, Lexie can’t seem to escape trouble. Raised Catholic, she goes to confession in hopes of alleviating some of her guilt … and maybe not burning in hell. Instead, she stumbles out of the confessional and right into Alessandro Moretti, a young and very easy-on-the-eyes deacon … only eight months away from becoming a priest. Lexie and Alessandro grow closer, and when Alessandro’s signals start changing despite his vow of celibacy, she doesn’t know what to think. She’s torn between falling in love with the man she shouldn’t want and the man she can’t have. And she isn’t sure how she can live with herself either way.

 My Thoughts:

First, I just want to scream from the top of my lungs, "This book was AMAZING!!!!"  I LOVED this book so much!  From the moment I began reading A Little Too Far, I thought Wow this is so hot, and I just could not put my Kindle down.  It was that good.  I was drawn to this story when I saw the book cover, and the blurb put it at the top of my wish list and TBR!   I had high expectations, and hopes that this story would be great, and it blew my expectations right out of the water!  A Little Too Far had the full package, a beautiful setting, with vivid and intoxicating descriptions, complex and authentic three dimensional characters, that I both loved and connected with, intense sexual chemistry, swoon-worthy male leading characters, an addicting plot that completely draws you in, and steamy love scenes that were off the charts!  This whole series has now been added to my auto-buy list!  I am so excited, and the countdown has begun for A Little Too Much!

The main character was Lexie Banks, and A Little Too Far is told from her point of view.  She had a devastating break up with her long term boyfriend, (fiancé) Rick.  She realized that he had been cheating on her when they both had gone to different colleges.  Rick had decided to go to a local college, while Lexie chose Notre Dame.  They had to continue their relationship at long-distance after their graduation from High School.  Lexie gets selected from her college, Notre Dame, to study abroad in Rome for a year.  She is excited to get a new start separating herself from Rick, to travel, and go to Rome to see all of the beautiful art it has to offer.  However, right before she leaves, things get hot and heavy with her step-brother Trent, and she realizes that she has strong feelings for him.  Trent and Lexie had a very special bond, and grew close right after her father and his mother married, when she was a young teen.  He'd always been the one person that she could tell all of her secrets to, the one she could go to if she needed a shoulder to cry on, and whenever they were around one another, they were inseparable.  I was swooning over Trent as I read about the way he treated Lexie.  His love for her came pouring out of the pages.  He was sexy, charming, fun, and an all around great guy.

Then, when Lexie got to Rome, she met Alessandro.  Whew!  He was  another guy that had me swooning!  He had the sexy accent, intelligent mind, compassionate heart, and the looks to match!  Lexie began working with Alessandro after she went to confession, and the priest directed her to him.  They ended up working together on a project that dealt with her passion for Art History (her college major), and his passion for helping others, especially the youth.  Pretty soon these two were sightseeing, as Alessandro shared all the beautiful sights of Rome with Lexie, having dinner with one another, and even going on a short vacation with one another to meet Alessandro's family.  The more time they spent together, the closer they got.  Lexie shared her feelings for Trent, love of Art, and a lot more with Alessandro.  He shared his past with her, his family background, and inspiration to help others with her.  These two were very sexually attracted to one another, but as their friendship grew, so did the intensity of their feelings for one another.

Lexie faced many dilemma's in her love life.  For one, she had intense feelings for two different men, and for another, she felt like she couldn't have either one.  With Trevor being her stepbrother, she felt like it was wrong to have feelings for him, and didn't want to upset her good friend Sam, who liked him, and especially didn't want to upset her father and step mother.  With Alessandro having taken his vow of celibacy, and on his way to become a Catholic Priest, she did not want to jeopardize his dream, and passion to help others by following the path he had been working towards for years.  It was easy to see how torn she felt inside, and the guilt she carried.  However, both Trent and Alessandro needed to be able to make their own decisions.  I loved Alessandro, but was "Team Trent" all the way.  I just felt like they were meant to be, and I loved the chemistry and dynamic  between the two of them.

A Little Too Far was phenomenal!  The setting of Rome was both beautiful, and romantic.  Ms. Desrochers' vivid descriptions painted such a beautiful picture in my head.  I could tell that she was very knowledgable about the people, culture, customs, and art in Rome.  All of the details flowed seamlessly with the story.  The main characters were so well-built, and I could picture every detail from how they looked, to how the spoke, acted, and really got a sense of who Lexie, Trevor, and Alessandro were as individuals.  Plus the sexual chemistry, intensity, and love scenes, were swoon-worthy.  If you are looking for a fun, fast-paced, non-angst filled story, then, A Little Too Far is the perfect bookish escape!

My Rating:

I give A Little Too Far 5 Swoon-Worthy, Sexy, Fun, and Flirty Stars!  This story has been added to my most coveted favorites book shelf.  William Morrow Books is quickly becoming one of my favorite publishers, as they continue to turn out such sensational stories, time and time again.  I recommend A Little Too Far to all you Cora Carmack, Nyrae Dawn, Abbi Glines, Elizabeth Reyes, Jennifer Probst, Colleen Hoover, and J. Lynn fans out there!
