ARC for review

How does a tomboy raised in a house full of men find the sensual woman inside of her? Growing up with a widowed, retired Marine as a father and two older brothers taught Asia to be tough. But how does she stop being one of the guys and learn to find the right one?

Finding herself won't be easy, finding love will be even harder.

Meeting Jay opens Asia's eyes to the possibility of love and unbelievable sex but can his country club world accept the woman more comfortable in torn jeans and flip flops? Or will she find the love she yearns for in the tattooed arms of her first love, a pro skater who has come back into her life?

With the possibility of new love or closure from a painful first love, finding her path is riddled with uncertainty and discoveries but before she can follow her heart she must first set it free.

**Not recommended for younger readers due to sexual content, use of drugs and language.**

The Way Ria See's It

Freeing Asia was a fun, raw and gritty story that kept me guessing...What does that mean? Well thats what i’m here to share! Lol! You’ll be seeing a whole lot of Asia in my favs section, believe that! Okay, moving on... I instantly fell for all of these characters. Everyone felt real, like someone I’ve met or could know. Sure everyone is really ridiculously good looking! As a Libra I love beauty and see it all around me on a daily basis! BOOM! Any who, these where my feelers throughout the book...

Oh man that sucks!

Yay Oooh about time!

What a sweetheart and YUM!

Then came THE SHIFT...

I was like no, NO WTF?!
Who does this guy think he is?!
Someones gettin STABBED...Who do I have to Stab?!
Then came the OTHER SHIFT
Aw well this is better...
Yes much.
Happy happy happy
and THEN…

HERE WE GO PEOPLE!!

I’m all rolling my sleeves up, puttin my hair back...yelling “hold me back babe, hold me back!” I’m about to go all ninja on some fictional characters here... Then came the waterworks and the ending was like OM falliping G! Deep breath Ria...Breath...Wow.That.Was.Fun!

One neg I have to point out is the pot smoking... Not my fav but knowing several people that skate and surf, yea its out there but its just not for me....LUCKILY it didn’t deter me from this wonderful cast of characters. I found myself laughing, crying, cringing, hoping, wishing, you name it! I felt it! Obviously I highly recommend this book.

F-rumpy, always in her shell Asia hides her talent and dresses plainly.
R-estricted, an artist but reserved. Afraid to take the leap because she is broken inside.
E-nvied seeing that her friends don’t hold back gives her the push to change.
E-njoyment, a makeover is what she needs and a good night out will start a chain of events that give her boring life the push she is looking for.
I-ndecision the time for fun has ended. Will Asia change who she is fundamentally or will she stay true to herself?
N-ame, the future CEO of the biggest company in town, Jay tries to change who he is but the rumors will pull him back to a dark place.
G-et together, Shaun’s best friend has always been like family but Asia is afraid he holds too much power.

A-gain, ridding waves, skating ramps, Jay can't stop thinking about Asia and she is surrounded by heartache again.
S-hield, her heart is in a box behind tall tall walls. No one will get to it ever again.
I-ncident, an attack puts everything in perspective for everyone. Asia will visit her past to understand her future and find herself in a place that is far away from all of the pain she knows.
A-lways and Forever, this song will bring to a close all of the pain and all of the drama. Now is the time to truly be free.

The ending was so spectacular and it even gives us a preview on Shaun’s book…. Eeeep! Everything was pulled together and wrapped up nicely. I was happy with the way things ended but I hope my other guy finds his happiness.

My Fav’s

Asia
DUH I want to be HER! OMG she has like mega balls...I mean like steel-plated! This girl isn’t afraid of what people think. She is a little lost but at the same time knows who she is! Confused? Don’t worry it all makes perfect sense in the book. Basically readers digest version of Asia is she flipping rocks! GAH #love I’m looking forward to seeing more of her even if its brief cameo’s and such :) Oh and I want a tiger tattoo now!

Marcus and Jay
I’m not gonna get into why because I’m like ANTI spoilers JUST KNOW THIS I love the BOTH of these guys for different reasons. VERY different reasons.

My Rating

4.5 Sushi, Red Dress, Bloody Knuckle, Red Wine Beach Stroll, Lunch, Blonde Bimbos, Charity Ball, Made Decision, Surf Date, Brutal Storm, Chances Taken, Gun Shot, Japan Trip, Wedding Dance, Dream House, Art Gallery, Always and Forever Filled Stars!! I seriously had a great time with this book and highly highly recommend it!!

We want to welcome the very talented author
E.M. Abel to A Bookish Escape,

and wish her much success in her future endeavors. We are so excited to read her upcoming work, and are are huge fans of Freeing Asia.
We wanted to know what her fav 3 tattoo's are and why?..

Well, first of all, I'm impressed you know I have more than three tattoos. You've been paying attention. I love it! Okay so my three favorites...hmmm this is hard.

#1would have to be the geisha on my left arm. I love this tattoo for many reasons, the first being that I got it in Japan. I'm half Japanese (yes, just like Asia) and I lived in Japan for about 8 years of my life, so that alone means a lot to me. I also have my daughter's birthday incorporated in it because she was born in Japan. (I plan to get one with my son's birthday soon.)
The inspiration behind it: I got the geisha because I thought the picture was beautiful and I wanted something femanine that represented Japanese culture. I also have Japanese maple leaves on one side of the geisha and cherry blossoms on the other. To me, this represents the constant changes in life and serves as a reminder that nothing in life stays the same. Change always comes.

#2 Is my rib tattoo, which is still in progress. It's a Phoenix rising from an open book. The book has flames and rays of light coming out of it and I came up with the concept while writing Freeing Asia. One of my best friends, Nichole Webb, is the artist doing it, so that alone makes it even more meaningful to me.

The inspiration behind it: It represents me finding my way, discovering my love for writing—and the freedom it's given me.

#3 Man, this is harder than I thought...I would have to say the quote I have on the inside of my right bicep. It says, "Sisters are a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit. A golden thread to the meaning of life." I got it while on vacation in Miami with my two sisters.

The inspiration behind it: I have two older sisters (who are twins) and throughout my life they have been my rock, my cheerleaders and two of my closest and dearest friends. My sisters and I have a bond that is unbreakable—I wanted a tattoo that represented that.

How AWESOME is THAT?

RIGHT?!
 Thank You So Much!!

About Author

E M Abel

My husband is awesome and also a Chief in the US Navy. This means crazy schedules, uncertainty and lots of nights spent alone writing on my computer.

I have two amazing kids who always know how to make me laugh.

I've been passionate about writing ever since I wrote my first poem in the 3rd grade and I've been using it as a means to express myself ever since.

I think because I hold my emotions so close and fear being vulnerable I use different forms of self expression- writing, drawing, painting, photography, tattoos- to show the world who I am.

The one rule I use everyday is the Golden Rule--"Treat others the way you'd like to be treated." I believe karma is very real and sometimes she can be a bitch if you make her that way.

I love acting crazy, I love to laugh, I love making people laugh, I love the ocean, I love dancing like no one is watching, I love good music, I love good books... oh man I should probably stop there. I love a lot of stuff.
