GR's Summary:

There’s tortured. And there’s Garth Black.

His life has been a constant carousel of tragedy and disappointment, including his love life. Of course, applying the term “love” to Garth’s conquests is a gross misuse of the word. Some people were made to give and accept love, and others weren’t. Garth Black redefines the “others” category. He’s made a vow that the day he meets a woman who could sucker him into falling in love will be the day he runs away.

Garth’s plan has one flaw. What happens when he’s already fallen hard for a girl before the warning signs and red flags go up? What happens when the love he’s avoided his entire life brings him to his knees? What happens when Garth Black lets the dirtiest four letter word he’s ever known into his dark, lonely life?

This cowboy’s about to find out he can control some things, and he can’t control others. Number one on the what he can’t control list?

Love.

My Thoughts:

The Lost & Found Series has quickly become a favorite of mine.  As a book blogger, I read a lot of books.  Therefore, it's difficult for me to remember character's names, and certain plot lines at times.  Yet, the Lost & Found Series really stands out in my mind.  The biggest reason being the phenomenal characters that Ms. Williams has created.  I have gotten so attached to these characters, and every time I get to read another book in the series, it feels like Christmas.  My biggest problem with this series is that I devour the books too quickly, that I end up feeling a little sad after each book is finished.  With Lost & Found and Near & Far, we got the hottest & sweetest guy ever, Jesse and the bad girl, Rowen's story.  In Finders Keepers, we get the sexy, and charming bad boy, Garth Black and the sweetheart, Josie's story!  Garth has fascinated me ever since I met him in Lost & Found.  While we learned a little bit about him, he was a secondary character, so there was still a lot more to know in order to figure out who Garth really was as a person.

In Finders Keepers, we learn everything important there is to know about Garth Black.  The story is told from his point of view, and it was very interesting getting to be in his head.  Garth, Jesse, and Josie, have been best friends since grade school.  Garth has loved Josie his whole life, and was going to ask her to the ninth grade homecoming dance, but Jesse beat him to it.  Afterwards, Josie ended up with Jesse, and it hurt Garth to see the woman that he loved with his best friend.  However, Garth thought that Jesse was a better person than him, and more deserving of Josie's love.  Fast forward to the future, and Jesse is engaged to Rowan, and Josie has an off again, on again boyfriend, Colt.  Garth's best friends are still Jesse, and Josie, but he goes out of his way to keep his distance from Josie, his dream girl, because he doesn't think that he's good enough for her.  Then, a tragic circumstance occurs, and pushes Josie and Garth together.  Pretty soon they are seeing one another on a regulars basis, flirting with each other, and it's obvious that they each have deep feelings for the other.  Little by little, Garth begins to open up to Josie, and reveal a better side of himself to her.  However, Josie's parents dislike Garth, and don't think he's good enough for their daughter, and the biggest problem is that Garth doesn't think that he's good enough for Josie either.

It was difficult to read about Garth's childhood memories about his alcoholic father, and the verbal and physical abuse that he endured.  It painted a painful and heartbreaking picture, and made me understand the reason Garth had been so closed off, angry, and why he felt so unworthy of love.  I think that his past is what initially connected him and Jesse in the first place.  Finders Keepers was superb!  There was so much sexual chemistry, passion, caring, and love between Garth and Josie.  I loved how protective and loyal Garth was.  He's the type of man that doesn't give his love easily, but when he gives it, it's for life.  Josie never gave up on Garth.  She had so much hope, faith, and love for him.  Josie was perfect for Garth, because she always saw the good in him, and balanced him out.  I was so happy that we got a lot of Jesse and Rowan in this story as well.  Whereas in Near & Far Josie and Garth gave love advice to Jesse, and Rowan, in Finders Keepers, we get to see Jesse and Rowan dish out the advice.

My Rating:

I give Finders Keepers 4.5 Fantastic, Fiercely Passionate, A Forever Kind Of Love, Stars!  You will fall in love with Garth Black, and be attracted to his flirty and charming side, as well as his vulnerable side.  You will hurt for this Black Knight, and melt at the tenderness, and love he shows Josie.  The ending was beautiful, and couldn't be more perfect.  I want more Garth, Josie, Jesse, and Rowan, and once you begin this series, you will too!

My Favorite Quotes:

"You might want to step it up a few hundred notches, Mason, because you're exciting Josie about as much as cow shit on the bottom of my boots."  (eARC, Loc. 49)

~Garth

"The only reason I paint you as the misunderstood good guy is because that's who you are.  You're the guy who shows up on his friend's doorstep in the middle of the night if they call.  You're the guy who is one of the first guys at work in the morning and one of the last to leave.  You're the guy who played cupid when his best friend almost lost the woman he loved.  You're the guy who would give your kidney to a homeless three-legged dog if it needed one. You're that guy Garth.  You know it.  And I've known it for a hell of a lot longer."  (eARC, Loc. 1560)

~Josie

"Damn, Josie.  Are you trying to kill me?
She glanced back my way.  Not particular right now.  Why?
I didn't even try to stop staring.  It would have been a wasted effort.  Because that dress is enough to give a man a heart attack if you come any closer, or break a man's heart if you walk away.
Now lines like that help me understand why you've got a reputation for being such a ladies man.
That wasn't even my best one."  (eARC, Loc.1623)
