My Thoughts:
I have become completely enthralled and addicted to the Dragonfly Series. This series encompasses first love, romance, passion, angst, secrets, intrigue, and high drama. I have become deeply invested in the main characters and the plot line. Each book in the series must be read in order, as the plot builds, and deepens. Dragonfly caught my attention and hooked me to these characters' story, and Undertow completely blew me away, and sealed my love for this series! So as you can imagine, I was desperate to get my hands on Watercolor, and see how the story concluded. I was pleasantly surprised and excited to learn that there will be one more book in this series! Oh, the torture!!! I have to wait for one more book to get all of my answers, and see how it all ends! More than anything, I want Anna and Julian to have a "happily ever after" ending together.
In Watercolor, Anna has finally decided that Julian is the one she wants to be with. They make it official and become boyfriend and girlfriend. Unfortunatley, Anna still thinks of Jack, dreams about him, and has trouble with completely letting him go. To top it off, she carries the secret of who Julian's biological father is, but has made a promise to keep it to herself. Julian is struggling with his identity, and wishing he had his father in his life. Anna feels guilty, but can't convince Alex to tell her son the truth. With Anna distracted and seeming uninterested in having sex, Julian becomes insecure, and worried that she still has feelings for Jack. Anna and Julian end up going through angst, insecurity, and jealousy. Their relationship is tested over and over again. Then Anna get's accepted in to college with a full scholarship that will put her far away from Julian and in close vicinity to Jack. The question becomes, will their relationship survive?"
Watercolor was a good addition to the Dragonfly Series. I fell even more in love with Julian in this story. He was so patient, tender, caring, and loving with Anna. Julian felt very real to me, and I enjoyed reading about his art, and seeing the "imperfect," and very human side to his character. I got to see him in a very "real" light, as he experienced insecurity, jealousy, and sadness. I just wanted to reach through the book, and comfort him. Anna drove me a little crazy in this segment. I felt like she made a lot of mistakes in her relationship, and wanted her to make better decisions. Yet, I took in to consideration that she was so young, and that's part of growing up, and maturing. I didn't feel the chemistry was as strong between Anna and Julian as I wanted and hoped for it to be in this book. It was a lot stronger in previous books, and I was also a little disappointed that we didn't get much Jack and Lucy in this segment. I am looking forward to getting my hands on Mosaic, the final book in the Dragonfly Series that comes out in 2014. I'm hoping that we get all of the main characters in this segment, all of my questions are answered, and we get a HEA for Anna, Julian, Alex, and Bill.
My Rating:
I give Watercolor 4 Angsty, Secret-Filled, Falling in Love Stars. Read this series! Each book just builds and makes the whole series stronger. The main characters are very intriguing, realistic, and complex. You will get caught up in this drama filled series, and not want it to end!
My Favorite Scenes:
"Come here, beautiful. Julian reached across and pulled me into his arms. He rolled us over so he was partially above me and kissed me deeply, his tongue finding mine, causing my insides to ignite. I moved my body closer to his, reaching up to hold his cheeks. We were lying on the sand, and his hand slid down my neck, to my shoulder, and then lower. I reached for it and laced our fingers. He kissed my hand then untangled his, reaching back to my waist for the bottom of my sweater. His hand went under the fabric and up to my bra. My heart was racing as his fingers gently explored the sensitive skin beneath." (eARC, Loc. 1312)
