Release Blitz & Review: Mosaic (Dragonfly #4) by Leigh T. Moore

Mosaic
Dragonfly #4
By: Leigh T. Moore
Release Date: June, 30, 2014

Mature Content

GR's Summary:

The future never goes as planned.

People are never what they seem.

Time changes everything.

So you want to know what happened to Anna and Julian? Well, listen up, because I’ve got the whole scoop. I’m Jules, btw, and I am an artist, as you already know if you’ve read Watercolor. What you might not know is I inherited my mother’s cute little newsy nose, thank you very much.

It’s high school reunion time, and everyone’s coming back to Fairview—everyone who’s not already there, mind you. What went wrong, who’s fault it was, and why the heck nobody knew about me… it’s all coming out.

Long-distance relationships rarely last, and a lot of water has passed under that bridge. Big Secrets will be exposed, and in the end we’ll know if that old saying is true: Love is stronger than time.

My Thoughts:

Mosaic was a very emotional conclusion to the Dragonfly Series, by Leigh T. Moore.  I have been following this saga since the first book, and have gone through every bit of heartbreak, happiness, and learning experience with these characters.  Everything ended as it should have, and I was very satisfied with the conclusion.

As I reflect on this series, one of the things I loved about it, was how it has spanned generations.  Everything came full circle in Mosaic, and the characters of the past, present, and now future of the LaSalle and Kyser family reunited.

Mosaic begins by introducing us to Jules, Anna's, sixteen year old daughter, who is a riot!!!  Jules and Anna have returned to Anna's hometown for her 20th High School Reunion.  Anna has come to introduce Jules to her biological father, who never knew about her existence.  Jules' first night there, she runs in to a certain good looking and charming man with the same blue eyes, and she is pretty sure that he is her father.  That night Jules discovers her mother's secret "blog," which is on a key chain drive.  It is her mother's diary, and goes back in time to Anna's first year in college, and progresses to everything that occurred between Jules' parents, leading to their eventual estrangement.  Then, the story fast-forwards in to the present time.

Mosaic read much like a real life story.  It was filled with ups and downs.  It reflected on first love, and the mistakes we tend to make when we are young and in love.  It reflected on how as we grow up and mature, we learn more about our strengths, and our weaknesses.  If we are wise enough, we try to mend the mistakes from our past.

When you love someone, and I mean really love them, it never dies.  Mosaic was a second chance at love story.  It was emotional, touching, and bittersweet.  It had many life lessons in it about communication, regret, forgiveness, and savoring your life.

My Rating:

I give Mosaic, by Leigh T. Moore, 4 Longing For Lost Love, Healing, and New Beginning Filled Stars!  The Dragonfly Series is great from the very first to very last book in the series.  You will get attached to these characters, and cry, laugh and rejoice with them!  I recommend this series, and will miss all of these characters!

My Thoughts:

I have become completely enthralled and addicted to the Dragonfly Series.  This series encompasses first love, romance, passion, angst, secrets, intrigue, and high drama.  I have become deeply invested in the main characters and the plot line.  Each book in the series must be read in order, as the plot builds, and deepens.  Dragonfly caught my attention and hooked me to these characters' story, and Undertow completely blew me away, and sealed my love for this series!  So as you can imagine, I was desperate to get my hands on Watercolor, and see how the story concluded.  I was pleasantly surprised and excited to learn that there will be one more book in this series!  Oh, the torture!!!  I have to wait for one more book to get all of my answers, and see how it all ends!  More than anything, I want Anna and Julian  to have  a "happily ever after" ending together.

In Watercolor, Anna has finally decided that Julian is the one she wants to be with.  They make it official and become boyfriend and girlfriend.  Unfortunatley, Anna still thinks of Jack, dreams about him, and has trouble with completely letting him go.  To top it off, she carries the secret of who Julian's biological father is, but has made a promise to keep it to herself.  Julian is struggling with his identity, and wishing he had his father in his life.  Anna feels guilty, but can't convince Alex to tell her son the truth.  With Anna distracted and seeming uninterested in having sex, Julian becomes insecure, and worried that she still has feelings for Jack.  Anna and Julian end up going through angst, insecurity, and jealousy.  Their relationship is tested over and over again.  Then Anna get's accepted in to college with a full scholarship that will put her far away from Julian and in close vicinity to Jack.  The question becomes, will their relationship survive?"

Watercolor was a good addition to the Dragonfly Series.  I fell even more in love with Julian in this story.  He was so patient, tender, caring, and loving with Anna.  Julian felt very real to me, and I enjoyed reading about his art, and seeing the "imperfect," and very human side to his character.  I got to see him in a very "real" light, as he experienced insecurity, jealousy, and sadness.  I just wanted to reach through the book, and comfort him.  Anna drove me a little crazy in this segment.  I felt like she made a lot of mistakes in her relationship, and wanted her to make better decisions.  Yet, I took in to consideration that she was so young, and that's part of growing up, and maturing.  I didn't feel the chemistry was as strong between Anna and Julian as I wanted and hoped for it to be in this book.  It was a lot stronger in previous books, and I was also a little disappointed that we didn't get much Jack and Lucy in this segment. I am looking forward to getting my hands on Mosaic, the final book in the Dragonfly Series that comes out in 2014.  I'm hoping that we get all of the main characters in this segment, all of my questions are answered, and we get a HEA for Anna, Julian, Alex, and Bill.

My Rating:

I give Watercolor 4 Angsty, Secret-Filled, Falling in Love Stars.  Read this series!  Each book just builds and makes the whole series stronger.  The main characters are very intriguing, realistic, and complex.  You will get caught up in this drama filled series, and not want it to end!

My Favorite Scenes:

"Come here, beautiful.  Julian reached across and pulled me into his arms.  He rolled us over so he was partially above me and kissed me deeply, his tongue finding mine, causing my insides to ignite.  I moved my body closer to his, reaching up to hold his cheeks.  We were lying on the sand, and his hand slid down my neck, to my shoulder, and then lower.  I reached for it and laced our fingers.  He kissed my hand then untangled his, reaching back to my waist for the bottom of my sweater.  His hand went under the fabric and up to my bra.  My heart was racing as his fingers gently explored the sensitive skin beneath."  (eARC, Loc. 1312)

~Anna

"That's my girl, he squeezed, then pushed me back up to face him.  The determined look was still in his eyes, and thinking of all the ways he'd proven his love in the last year fanned that flicker of hope into something bigger.  Maybe it was possible.  If he'd inherited even half the stubbornness of his parents, he could make anything happen."  (eARC, Loc. 2678)

Exclusive excerpt:

“I just want you to touch me.”

I took his hand and put it at my waist, under my shirt. I pressed my mouth to his and chills followed as his fingers slid lightly over my skin. I was drowning again and I reached over to find the edge of his jeans. I pulled up the soft fabric and lightly touched his bare stomach.

Suddenly he was gone. My lips were still in a pucker, and he was down at the water away from me. I watched as he stripped off his t-shirt and slipped out of his jeans before diving into the dark Gulf waters.

I fell forward, laying my head on my forearm in the sand. “I’m going to kill your parents,” I sighed.

Goodreads Summary:

"An incredibly powerful sequel to Dragonfly. I found myself riveted to the last page by the dept of feeling, loss, tragedy, and love in this gorgeously woven story. This is a definite must-read." --Jolene Perry, author of Out of Play

Falling in love will pull you under...

Bill Kyser has a plan to take the sandy farms of his hometown and turn them into a world-class tourist destination--and become a billionaire in the process.
Alexandra "Lexy" LaSalle has a plan to change her life by becoming a world-famous artist.
Meg Weaver has a plan to hold onto Bill no matter what she has to do.

Three friends, three dreams.
One fatal decision will change all their lives forever.

In Dragonfly, Bill Kyser gave Anna the three journals that held the story behind the powerful developer's seclusion and the damaged lives of his family members.

Anna hoped to find a way for Julian to know the truth, but as she digs deeper into the tragic events of the past, she realizes silence could be the only option.

Now she's in an alliance with the man she formerly feared. And if Julian finds out what she knows, she could lose for good the boy she's starting to love.

My Thoughts:

I thought that Undertow was an amazing sequel in the Dragonfly series!  It continued right where we left off in the first book of the series, Dragonfly.  Anna is still telling the story.  However, she reads the journals of Meg, Bill, and Alex.  As you read their journals, you clearly get their point of view of the past, and it is written in such a way, that each event that occurs in the journal feels like it's taking place before your very eyes.  In Dragonfly, we dealt with Anna, her feelings, and relationships with Jack and Julian, and the uncovering of secrets.  Undertow focused on Bill, Meg, and Alex, with a detailed account of those secrets, and we saw very little of Anna and Julian's relationship.  There were a few little scenes with them in it.  Anna told Julian she wanted to take things slow.  The reason being that she was still getting over Jack.  Julian, of course is all about Anna, and is willing to wait for her.  My only complaint was that I would have liked to see more of Anna and Julian's story in this sequel as well.

As I read Meg's journal, (Jack & Lucy's mom,) I got a really good feel for her as a character.  Her dream in life was to have the biggest house, a lot of children, a large and expensive home that she could show off, and she wanted to be envied everyone.  She wanted the perfect family, and was superficial.  She was gorgeous, and to outsiders looking in had the perfect life.  However she was extremely sad, lonely, co-dependent, spoiled, and felt neglected by her husband Bill.  She was manipulative, and had lied and tricked Bill to get him to marry her, and stay with her.  Alex, loved art, and her huge dream was to be an artist.  She was a good friend to Meg.  They were like sisters, and had gone to school together since they were young children.  They were inseparable.  However they were opposites.  Alex was down to earth, humble, hard-working, ambitious, independent, and a very strong woman.  Alex began working on Bill's project using her skills in art, and ended up falling in love with Bill.  However, she knew that they could never be together, because she would never betray Meg.

Bill had a dream since he was in high school, and was determined to see it through.  He would not let anything get in the way of his dream, and was a workaholic.  He didn't have time for his wife, and children.  Even when he did have time, he didn't want to be around Meg, because he felt like she had lied and betrayed him in their marriage.  Little by little, he fell in love with Alex.  In reality, they Bill and Alex were both more alike and well suited for one another, than Bill and Meg were.  Bill had married too young, and the reason was because he got Meg pregnant.  People change, they grow and mature or stay the same.  These three individuals lives intersected in more ways than one.  It was interesting reading their journals, and finding out how everything played out.  There were a lot of secrets, lies, manipulations, betrayals,  and I felt like I was watching a soap opera at times.

Undertow, was a pleasure to read!  I am extremely eager to get my hands on the third and final novel in the Dragonfly Series, Watercolor, that comes out on October 3rd of this year.  The descriptions of the setting in Undertow were beautiful.  The characters were fully developed.  The plot was extremely entertaining.  This series has the complete package!  If you enjoy stories  with non-stop ups and downs, twists and turns, drama, love lost, and found, passion, and a story realistic to life, this would be an excellent choice for a great bookish escape.

My Rating:

Wow!  Undertow was a thrill ride a moment, and I enjoyed the ride!  This series has become an addiction for me!  I have to turn every page, and read the story in one sitting, and when I finish, I want the next book immediately!  There has not been one dull moment in this series!  I was completely and utterly captivated by Anna, Jack, and Julian's story in Dragonfly, and now I've been mesmerized by Meg, Bill, and Alex's story in Undertow.  This series just keeps better, and better!  For the junior novel in a trilogy, I can't believe how much I enjoyed and loved Undertow!  Read this series for a complex story about love, lies, betrayals, deceptions, and unfulfilled desires.  I give Undertow 4.5 Outstanding, Addicting, and Drama-Filled Stars!

My Favorite Quotes:

"I looked into her tear-filled eyes and I knew.  She would never have held me in her arms, kissed my lips, and lied to my face.  (eARC, Loc. 3343)

~Bill

"She looked at me with those serious eyes, stroking my forehead, my face.  I couldn't tell what she was thinking, but I could see it in her expression.  She loved me.  And I loved her.  (eARC, Loc. 3359)

~Bill

"I was sure we could face whatever happened and make it through.  My mind was on the future.  Us together.  It was going to be amazing.  (eARC, Loc. 3734)

Excerpt:

 Bill’s diary~

I was slowly making my way up the hill in the semi-darkness when I noticed a figure wobbling toward me. Lexy. She was looking down and ran straight into me. I caught her before she fell, her flowery scent wrapping around me with her soft hair.

“Whoa, are you drunk?” I asked, holding her arms and trying not to feel anything toward her.

“Bill! Shh!” She held a single shoe in my face, eyes huge. “I’ve lost my shoe!” Then she snorted.

I couldn’t help a little laugh. “Where’s Suzanne?”

“At the cabin. I was there, and I looked down, and… Poof! No shoe!”

I shook my head. “Where did you lose it?”

“I don’t know! I was trying to find it, but it’s so dark!” She turned and dropped to her knees, squinting down the path.

I reached down to pull her up. “Know what? It’ll be easier to find in the morning. Let me help you back to your room before you fall in the pool.”

She leaned back and frowned, then nodded. “That’s a good idea,” she said. “You’re very smart. Have I told you I think you’re very smart?”

“You just did.”

“You’re very smart.”

“Thanks. You usually are, too.”

Her dark brows pulled together. “What does that mean?”

“It means you’re drunk.”

“Oh my god!” She softly cried, holding her head. “I know. It’s terrible.”

Her exaggerated gestures made me grin. I’d never seen her like this. “And you can’t find a shoe on the side of a hill in the dark when you’re drunk.”

“See?” She poked my chest. “You’re very smart.”

“Come on.” We started making our way up the path.

She wrapped her arms around my waist and rested her head on my shoulder. Gone was the wall between us. Tonight she was only soft and beautiful and holding onto me. I thought about kitchen tours and finding band-aids in soup. Resort concerns that were severely unattractive.

She started giggling again.

“What now?” I asked as we reached her room.

She sniffed and lifted her head, looking in my eyes. “I didn’t like you in high school.”

“I know,” I said softly.

“I thought you were bad for Meg.”

“Yep.”

“But I was wrong, and I’m sorry.”

“I’m not holding it against you.”

She planted her feet and turned to face me then she put both hands on my shoulders. “I never thought I’d say this, but you’re a good guy, Bill Kyser. And I consider you my friend.”

I raised my eyebrows. “Uh-huh.”

“That’s it.” She dropped her hands, still staring at me.

“Well, I’m glad we cleared that up,” I said with a little smile.

“Yes. All clear.” She waved a hand between us. “Goodnight, friend Bill.”

“Goodnight, friend Alex.”
