Synopsis:

Without my box I can’t be me

Kidnapped by a clown close to the sea

He’s torn inside where one equals two

One I hate, the other I love true

Secrets and lies become alibis

Sivan is damaged, it’s in his eyes

Riddles unravel when you know who masters

Now Imogene’s only home is Masters

An eye playing spy held me together

When I broke, he broke, two ends of frayed tether

We’re joined by the past like twin souls in hell

Innocent angels molested, and fell

I escaped it, but need to go back.

To love the man with his face painted black.

The circus is known for its eternal magic

Our tent of freedom is simply tragic.

Once a little girl fell, then she fell for me

I’m a fool, and she’s a fool for me

There’s a clown inside us all; a purpose

But this life, it’s all just a circus.

Excerpt:

Sivan

I squash the costumes, and bits I bought, into my car as best I can. The back window is completely blocked and I cannot see out of it at all. The clothing smells old and has that musty, almost stale smell, as if the sweat of the original owners is still in the fabric.

The pictures from his office have my mind spinning. He was part of my circus; he was there. That was his family’s circus. When I asked he just got upset and dismissed me, hurrying me to leave. I struck a nerve with him. I desperately want to know more, to ask him more, but risk losing him as a supplier.

My last task is shopping. We need food, toilet paper, and the other shit required to live on the fringes. I stop at the small coastal town nearest my new home and make my way around the few stores there. All I require are the basics, and a somewhat decent coffee. The folks in the stores eye me like the stranger I am, looking me up and down.

In a small grocer I gather fresh produce to cook with. A friendly girl behind the counter smiles and greets me; she doesn’t look at me like the older people have.

“Do you know where I can get a haircut in town?” I ask, while she bags my purchases into green plastic bags. She snickers and looks at me with a sweet smile.

“Two blocks up turn left, there’s a barber, but I think he’d shave it bald if you let him at that.” She eyes my messy long hair. “I wouldn’t cut it if I were you. Here.” She rolls a hair tie off her skinny wrist and hands it to me. “Just pull it back. The man-bun is all the rage nowadays.”

Giving a nod of thanks I pull my hair up into her pink elastic band and pay for the groceries. The final item on my list is done and I am relieved, ready to return to my own world and leave this charade of normal behind me.

“Thank you.” I smile as I grab the bags from the end of her counter.

“Pleasure, new guy in town.” She giggles and turns to help the purple haired old lady who has now ambled up to her cash register.

I leave the store feeling better. This day wasn’t what I hoped it to be, and the answers I wanted are now more questions. My heart is heavy with my mother’s confessions and Gavin’s betrayal. I am human and I feel just like they do.

Fuck me, this is all hurting me more than it should.

The short drive back home isn’t long and the hot afternoon sun is relentless on the car. Even with the AC on the sun burns me through the window.

Bouncing on the rutted dirt track I make my way to the tent, uneasiness making me check my mirrors and scan the surrounds. I feel as if I have been outed; that someone knows I am here now.

When I get out into the searing heat I look at the trailer where she is, and she is standing at my window staring out at me. She looks tired and dirty, broken and defeated. I hardly recognise my beautiful aerial dancer, but I recognise something else. Her eyes are as dead as the ones I watched through the window that summer, glassed over and devoid of emotion, as if the soul in them has perished and floated away with the wind.

Review:

The clown is BACKKKKKK!!!

When I finished reading Act 1, I was left speechless. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would fall for a clown. I hate clowns. I changed my mind, but only for Sivan. A. Giannoccaro’s intense, broken and mesmerizing clown captivated me from the very start. In this second Act, Sivan is more broken than ever. Every single piece of him needs his beautiful Imogene to keep moving forward. She makes him feel alive and she’s the only one that could love everything he represents.

The demons of the past are coming back to haunt Sivan and Imogene in full force and the battle against their demons leaves them both gasping for air. In Act 1, I felt like Imogene was still a mystery to me. This totally changed in this book. I got to see her grow as a character and she did a lot of thinking when it down to finding out what she really wanted. This book was darker than the first one. Many scenes were difficult to read, but necessary to make us understand what was going on in the mind of Sivan and Imogene.

This love story was dark, unique and captivating. The author did a phenomenal job at making us feel all the layers of pain that Sivan and Imogene were feeling. I wanted to reach into the book and give them both a comforting hug and tell them that everything would be alright.

These characters have picked up every single piece of their broken souls and become who they were really meant to be. This book exceeded all of my expectations. This reading journey made me go through a hurricane of emotions. These books will linger with me for a long time. If you are looking for your next dark romance read, I highly suggest these books.

I give, Cirque: Act 2, by A. Giannoccaro, 5 mesmerizing, dark,  even clowns need love stars!

About the Author

Amazon best selling author Ashleigh Giannoccaro lives In Jozi AKA Johannesburg South Africa with her high school sweetheart also known as her husband and two young daughters. She loves sunshine and psychopaths, her blood type is coffee and she has a pet Meerkat called Porky. She is a full time mom and author, and while she looks like the soccer mom on the surface her books are another story.

As a youngster Ashleigh grew up devouring thrillers and crime fiction, favouring Jeffrey Deaver all the while reading Sweet Valley High to fit in with her friends. When thrillers didn't give her the love and the romance novels didn’t pack the punch she needed Ashleigh discovered the small genre of Dark Romance and her heart was happy. Here’s where the lines of right snd wrong get blurry and the bad guy gets the girl, Ashleigh found the perfect balance of what she looked for in a book. When the time came to write her own stories she knew exactly what they would be, dark and twisted with just enough love. Colour My Ugly was published in October 2014 and since then it’s been a whirlwind of words and adventure that included a trip to the Books Are Bigger In Texas signing in April 2016 and six novels beings let out into the universe to challenge readers and hopefully leave a lasting mark.

Her Colour Series novels are dark romance set within the lives of three crime families. She loves to make you fall in love with the villain, because after all they need love too. Three full length novels span three generations and challenge ideas such as nature vs. nurture. Sometimes Ashleigh conducts psychiatric experiments in between the pages, like that one time she let two sociopaths fall in love. To her the bad guy doesn't need to be redeemed to get the happy ending.

The best selling Red Market Series followed when she teamed up with Mary E. Palmerin to see just how dark a love story could be. The series pushed limits that had never before been pushed and quickly become know as the darkest of the dark reads. The two book series was given best seller status by Amazon, even after ashleigh and Mary both believed it would be banned on release day. She still asks herself “who does that?” about this series quite regularly.

Now writing solo again Ashleigh has turned a poll she took about her readers biggest fears and turned it into a pyscho-erotic thriller about a clown. Cirque will make you forget how much you fear them and hopefully make you fall in love with the painted faces. A dark magical look inside the broken minds of two characters with the circus in their blood, Cirque is something completely different and new for Ashleigh.
When she’s not dreaming up crazy stories or creating villains for you to love, Ashleigh spends her time reading and supporting the Indie author community. Ashleigh has a passion for words and is constantly seeking new ones to read and write.

Excerpt:

“That man has secrets buried so deep they might never see the light of day. I saw him at dinner, the way those eyes were down and his mind seemed to be a million miles away. I don’t know why but I feel this bad idea coming on, this idea that I want to know what he hides away from the world, that golden boy smile and rugby player body are too good to be true.

There is always a reason that a man like him has no woman, or wedding ring. There is a dark, dirty skeleton hanging in his wardrobe, and I want to pull it out and see how it looks in daylight.

We all have skeletons, I like to slow dance with mine, but most people hide them away so no one ever sees them. Well I want to be his no one, I want to climb inside those thoughts and pull him apart. He might be Samantha’s brother, but the minute I laid eyes on Sivan I felt a deep pull inside me, that same feeling I get when I swing from the trapeze and let go, the free falling grab that gravity has on your belly making the possible fall so much more real. Then you grab on and catch yourself.

Falling is dangerous. Any sort of falling is going to get you hurt. Don’t fall.

Sam has lived in the flat opposite me for four years now, we are friends, some days a little more than friends. She has this self destructive nature where she puts herself in harm’s way on purpose. Daring bad things to happen to her, asking for trouble to come and destroy her fragile little heart, then waiting for someone to save her. Usually it’s Sivan or her mother, and for a while even me, until I learned a little about how she worked. Sam takes no responsibility for herself, the stripping is a prime example of her self loathing.

She doesn’t need to do it, but she needs to fall so someone can save her when she does. The thing is, one day no one will be there and she is going to hit the ground hard, she will shatter and break, and once you’re broken you can’t be saved – only mended.

A sick part of me wants to be the one who breaks her, watching her thud down without her safety net beneath her. I am jealous because I don’t have a net. I only have me.

When I saw her brother watching the Cirque performance I had an evil thought, a little idea of just how to remove her net. It would be easy you see, because he was watching me. When Sam arrived at work that night in tears because her brother saw her at work with all his rugby mates, I pushed her away. I told her she was an attention whore and if he was upset she deserved it, imagine how embarrassed he is, all the blokes saw you naked. I helped her fall with my harsh words.

“Sam, you act like whore. That’s what you are going to be treated as. Your brother just saw your true colours and they are fucking ugly.” The tears welled in her eyes through the whole performance, but I didn’t see them at all.

No, because I saw him watching me again. I perform just for him. I am not connected to her tonight and it shows, we are slightly off and I know we will get it at practice tomorrow.

I did nothing to adjust. I just watched him as he watched me.

Secrets.

He left before we came out of backstage, and I was disappointed. The drive home in his car was quiet as Sam silently fumed at me, I could still smell him in the car. A distinct smell of clean cologne and man — probably sweaty rugby togs somewhere. I let the smell and the image of his hooded eyes watching me take me away from the anger and shame swallowing up the air in the car, as Sam gets angrier and angrier.”

Review:

I don't like to run.

If you see me running, it's because a clown is probably after me. I hate clowns. They scare the s^&* out of me! The first clown that I ever saw was scary and I never gave any of them a second chance to come near me. Until Sivan. He is hands down the most mesmerizing clown that I have ever met! This book was recommended to me and I'm so happy I took a chance on this book. I discovered a new author and conquered my fears of clowns. I'm not telling you that I'm going to go up to the first clown I see, but at least this time when I see one I will be thinking of another clown from book town that has stolen my heart. Cirque:Act I, by A. Giannocaro, is an erotic, thrilling, chill inducing read that left me turning the pages until the birds were chirping outside my window.

Cirque:Act I was such an unique and captivating story! Sivan's life forever changed the day he took a forbidden look inside a trailer that belongs to the circus. From the first night, he's drawn to the man with the painted face and the gorgeous girl with the sad eyes. At thirteen, his life is changed. The circus leaves, but Sivan can't forget what he saw and how it made him feel. Years go by, but his goal remains the same. Become like him. It took a long time for Sivan to get his clown to look perfect. He created his circus, but something is missing. Where is his gorgeous girl with the sad eyes? Sivan is always looking for her. The lines between fantasy and reality start to blur when Imogene walks into his life. Their attraction is undeniable and dangerous. They both have secrets. His clown comes alive when Imogene is close. What will happen when secrets are revealed?

I don't like spoilers so I tried to give you a little bit of the story without giving too much away. It's my first time reading a book by this author and it won't be my last! I love dark romance novels. Even in the darkest moments you can find true love. Imogene and Sivan are two of the most fascinating characters that I have ever met! After reading this book, I feel like I know Sivan pretty well. Imogene is still an enigma to me and I can't wait to discover who she really is. The supporting cast of characters was great! I really liked Gavin, which is Sivan's best friend. Samantha is another story. I really did not like her, but I have to admit that I'm curious about her. She's Sivan's sister and a real pain!! Gah!! She got me so mad! I hope Act:II is coming soon! I can't wait to see what happens next! I highly recommend this book if you want to jumble your genres and read something different. I was hooked from page one!

Rating:

I give, Cirque:Act I, by A. Giannocaro, 5 dark, twisted, erotic, page-turning, fascinating stars!
