They called him Mack Daddy. No, seriously, his name was Mack. Short for Mackenzie. Thus, the nickname. Perfect, right? So was he: perfect. The perfect physical male specimen. At the private school where I taught, Mack Morrison was the only man around in a sea of women. Everyone wanted a piece of the hot single father of the sweet little boy. I was riddled with jealousy, because they didn’t know that—to me—he was much more. They didn’t know about our past. He’d chosen my school for his son on purpose, because Mack and I, we had unfinished business. As my friend Lorelai so eloquently put it: “Unfinished business between two people who are clearly attracted to each other is like an eternal case of blue balls.” And I was suffering in pain from my case. I was still intensely attracted to Mack. I tried to resist him, immersing myself further into a relationship with another man just to protect my heart. Not to mention, getting involved with a parent was strictly against school rules. But seeing Mack day in and day out was breaking me down. And soon I might be breaking all the rules. Author's note – Told in alternating points of view, Mack Daddy is a full-length standalone novel.
If you’re a fan of second-chance romance, you will absolutely love Mack Daddy by Penelope Ward. From the moment that the author revealed her cover and blurb, I have been anxiously waiting to read Mack and Frankie’s story. I always expect an unforgettable reading journey when I read one of Penelope Ward’s books and Mack Daddy did not disappoint! The last person Frankie O’Hara expected to see in her class is Mack Morrison. He’s a blast from her past that she can’t forget. It only took one moment and a single whisper of his voice to unleash a chaotic hurricane of emotions. He’s the single dad everybody is talking about. Years have passed, but the connection between Frankie and Mack is stronger than ever. Mack is back and he will do whatever it takes to fight for Frankie. He let her go once and that was the biggest mistake of his life. In his life, is where she belongs. Penelope Ward’s writing style captivated me from the very beginning. This story was filled with sexy, tender, emotional and fun moments. Frankie and Mack were a unique couple that shared a strong connection. I could feel their love for each other growing each time they shared a special moment together. It was not an easy journey for them. They both had their own personal obstacles to overcome. Mack came back into Frankie’s life when she least expected it. From the moment he came back, he completely turned her calm world upside down. Mack was determined to get his girl and he was going to do everything in his power to win her heart. He was fierce in his battle and he made her understand that she’s the only one who could make him happy. My heart broke for Mack in many occasions during my reading journey. It was so difficult to see him finally achieve his ultimate goal in life and then take two steps back. Frankie had difficult decisions to make as well. Mack came back for her and it completely took her by surprise. Her feelings for him are stronger than ever and she can’t deny that next to him is where she belongs. I loved that the author took the time to write chapters about their past together. I rather read about their past than just have a small recap of what happened told from the characters POV.
I give, Mack Daddy, by Penelope Ward, 4 romantic, sweet, heart-melting, sexy, always fight for the one you love stars!
