My Thoughts:

I have read books by both Jessica Clare and Jen Frederick.  These authors are both very talented.  Separately, they deliver, but together they bring the heat to a whole new level of scorching hot!  This team is a dynamic duo, and their words blend seamlessly to the point where I could not tell this story was written by two different authors.

Last Hit was a page turner!  Sure, it was filled with cliche's, but I didn't care one bit!  It worked with this story!  Daisy was raised by her father after her mother was ruthlessly murdered. She was kept in a horrible situation where she felt imprisoned and suffocated, due to her father's severe agoraphobia.  She was rarely allowed to leave her home, and only for food and necessary items for survival.  He had to approve what books she read (only non-fiction and the classics), monitored her internet and television use, as well as what she wore.  Due to this upbringing, she was very innocent, naive, and curious.  She longed to live her life, therefore, when she got the opportunity, she escaped her father's home.

Nikolai was a dangerous hit man.  Orphaned at a young age, he was taken under the wing of the Russian Bratva, where his mentor Alexsandr, trained him to be a cold blooded killer.  Now, as he is working on a hit, he see's Daisy from his scope and is fascinated by her sweet, innocent, and happy nature.  He instantly decides that she will be his, and goes out of his way to "meet" her, and claim her as his own.  However, it's only a matter of time before his past catches up with him.  Will Daisy still want him when she discovers what he is, and if she does, will either of them survive the dangers of the Russian Bratva?

There are so many reason that I enjoyed, Last Hit!  I loved the main characters, Daisy and Nikolai.  I thought it was fascinating how even though Nikolai was an assassin, and experienced in killing and sex, he was innocent in the ways of love, and friendship.  He had an innocence when it came to experiencing trust, affection, and being cared about.  He was very lonely, and had been shaped in to being one thing, yet you could see him longing for happiness, companionship, and a new beginning.  He had never had hope, and getting to see his vulnerability, and learning about his upbringing, made me feel for him.  I loved how much he wanted to protect Daisy.  His Ukrainian accent, phraseology and use of his foreign language, added to the authenticity of his character.  Even though Daisy was innocent, she was resilient, courageous, and strong.  She refused to be controlled by Nikolai and asserted her independence.  I loved how Nikolai and Daisy were complex, full-bodied characters.

The plot in the story was fast-paced, entertaining, suspenseful, and deliciously seductive.  Nikolai taught Daisy the art of lovemaking.  He was an attentive lover, who took his time, and put Daisy's pleasure above his own.  The danger and culture of the Russian Bratva and mentality of being a hit man were both disturbing and fascinating.  Last Hit was an excellent beginning to the Hitman Series!  I am so excited to continue this series, and learn more about the Russian Bratva, as well as the secondary characters that I met in this installment!
