GR's Summary:

Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans.

Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.

Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her.

But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.

My Thoughts:

Wicked was a sensational read for me!  I'm not really surprised, as it is a fact that Ms. Armentrout has never disappointed me with her well-crafted three dimensional characters, creative plot lines, and suspense filled twists, turns and exciting surprises!  Ms. Armentrout is one of the few author's that I have read who has mastered the ability to write any genre and any age group with equal finesse and style.

Wicked's gorgeous book cover drew me in, but it was the storyline that made me fall in love.  It was one of those stories that took the time to build a solid and strong foundation, and then sped up and completely took off!  It is the story of Ivy and Ren.  Ivy works for a secret organization called "The Order."  It is her job, along with other members to hunt and kill the Fae, creatures from the otherworld who feed off of a human's essence.  As she is working for The Order, she is introduced to Ren, a transfer from Colorado.  Ivy and Ren are partnered up when Order members begin turning up dead.  Together, they work to solve the puzzle of why there're  so many Fae migrating to New Orleans, and what they are up to.

Ivy was such a strong female character.  She had goals, ambitions, trained hard, and was loyal to The Order.  At the same time she was vulnerable after losing her birth parents, foster parents, and first boyfriend.  She was lonely, yet at the same time scared to get close to anyone, for fear that they would be taken from her.

Ren was the perfect swoon-worthy, heart-melting male lead.  When he set eyes on Ivy, he knew that he wanted her, and wasn't ashamed to let her know how he felt about her.  He made her feel good about herself, was patient, and very sexy.  Ivy and Ren had strong chemistry, and many sexy times that continued to escalate in to a fiery passion!

Another character that I must mention is Tink.  He was a "Brownie," basically what you would think of as a stereotypical fairy.  Tink was hilarious, and had me grinning and laughing whenever he appeared in the story.  I grew to love his character, and have a soft spot for him.

Wicked really picked up momentum half way in the story, and my eyes were glued to the pages.  The storyline was full of fun times, flirting, sexy pulse-pounding moments, and plot twists!!!  Earth shattering revelations were made, secrets came out, chaos ensued, and anticipation grew.

My Rating:

I give, Wicked, by Jennifer L. Armentrout, 5 Wicked, Intoxicating, "Holy Hotness with an extra side of sexy," Filled Stars!  What an epic beginning to a great new saga!  The ending of Wicked has me yearning for the sequel, Torn, to be in my hands!!!  This series is about to get intense, and I for one am ready for this addictive whirlwind ride to continue....

  12. Until recently, I had only read two of J.L.A's books; Half-Blood and Don't Look Back, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed. This past week, I decided that I was finally ready to tackle the entire Covenant series, and i finished up today. From the first book, to the last book, I loved every minute of it. And made a decision to read each and every one of this amazing author's books, asap. Wicked is actually next on my J.L.A list. I am seriously excited to jump into it!
