Half-Blood (Covenant #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Gr’s Summary

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

The Way I See It

An Awesome fellow Blogger, Tammy, @ Reviews by Tammy and Kim, and I chose this book to do a Blog-Tagteam- Review.  We both had it on our TBR and we decided it was time to do something about it! This has been crazy fun! Check these ladies out if you haven't already ;)

Right from the beginning I was HOOKED! This is a paranormal, fantasy book, that talks about a race that descends from the gods and mortals.  Even though this is a topic a lot of books have been written about, Ms. Armentrout puts an awesome spin on it!   It was very refreshing that the story solely focused on the characters involved.  I enjoyed that there wasn’t an overload of back story...JLA used just enough to keep us informed, but not too much that it took away from the actual story.

H-eart, Alex has to make a decision that will tear her to shreds and break her down to the core.
A-iden, Strong, Determined, Centered, and Willing to do anything for Alex.
L-ies and Half truths, is what surrounds Alex. Revelations will become her undoing.
F-ear, something Alex cannot worry about, she is determined to act and carry out the deeds that need a finality.

B-ruises and Scars heal, but the memories are profound and everlasting.
L-ove, is a luxury Alex is not afforded, she is predestined with a purpose.
O-ppression, for those that share her blood, but haven’t a voice to speak up for them.
O-bligation, to lead a life not of her choosing, due to expectations of others.
D-esires, are wanting   It seems, try as they may, no one is able to achieve any sense of happiness.

Yea.  Situation bad.  Book was AMAZING.  Try as I may, I know I’m going to be stuck on this island in JLA’s world!  I don’t think I will be able to think of anything else for quite some time. Talk about a book hangover, lol!  Seriously y’all, I enjoyed this book so much.  All of the characters fit perfectly, in this amazing world Ms. Armentrout has built.  A major problem is solved, but it's left open enough that the story continues.  Full of action and intrigue this book has something for everyone! The ratings don’t lie! People if you haven’t read this you must!!

My Fav’s

Alex
Strong, Awesome, Kicks butt!  Lol okay, maybe she can be a little rash, and she’s always getting into trouble, and can't seem to just go with it.  I cant help but love her.  She is awesome!  I feel so bad for all the poop she has had to endure her entire life. The covenant kind of really sucks, and their laws aren’t very fair.  :( My heart goes out to her, so I not only understand, but will defend her behavior tooth and nail;)  I can see her character doing great things.  The anticipation is killing me already.

Aiden
Super sexy, AmazeBalls!!  He wants so much for Alex.  He loves her, I just know it!  He had to grow up really quickly. Life didn’t let him go down his original path.  I think that made him a better person. Thinking about it though, a different person would have let that loss consume them. He is exactly what Alex needs.  I hope something amazing happens between these two...I have lots of books to read, talk about a never ending TBR!!

Seth
Wow...okay talk about difficult!  JLA your killing me!  Ha ha, okay what I mean is Seth is not only super sexy AmazeBalls, but he’s a half therefore its cool for Alex to fall in love with him!!  Do it! Do it! Do it!  Ugh, I’m so torn!  I want to split Alex in two, and give each one of these guys a piece of her.  Okay, he’s a total jerk, but man I’m in total lust with him.  *winky face*  Some might not dig the whole jerk thing, but I love his personality.  He’s crazy cocky, but he has merit to be that way!  I want him to fall in love with Alex, and I haven’t made a decision on which team I’m on.  Alex refuses to let him get close to her.  I seriously wish she would.  I’m looking forward to learning more about him.  I hope I’m right, and he really is as amazing as I think he is. :)

My Rating

4.5 Fifth Element, Amber Eyes, Titanium Dagger, Sparing Matt, Tag filled Stars!! A Must read if your into paranormal for Sure!!!!
