Synopsis:

Riddle me this...
“I am neither dead, nor alive, and I’m not something little Madison can hide.
But you will be dead, by the time this is done...
the timer starts now, and the games have just begun…”

Madison Montgomery comes from money and power, but when someone close to her commits the ultimate crime, Madison must live with her tainted name for the rest of her life. When she begins Riverside Preparatory Academy, the private school her father has swept her into in The Hamptons, she hopes for a fresh start. What she wasn't hoping for was the pack of bad boys who run the school; ten, to be exact. When Madison gains the attention of their leader, Bishop Vincent Hayes, a whole new world that she didn't think existed is exposed to her. A whole world that starts and ends with The Elite Kings Club and these boys, are about to flip her world upside down. Secrets are overflowing and family lies are about to be exposed. Is there more to Madison Montgomery than even she knows?

About this book:

I need to admit something right now. The Silver Swan is f*cked. It might be the most insane story I've ever written with equally insane characters. Who knew? You know, when I started this book, it was supposed to be YA. I wanted to write a book that my sisters could read. A book that won't have people look at my mum like "damn... what sort of messed up shit happened to your kid?". The angst, the assholeness, the games, the f**kery, the WHAT THE F**KING F**K ARE YOU DOING???!!!...

I cannot even.... anyway, this is a warning (and the only one I'll give you). It's crazy. I don't compare my work to my others, but this book is f**ked. It will most likely stomp all the f**k over people's hard limits (and not give a sh*t while it's doing it) and will make you second guess all the morals you thought you had.

This most definitely is not looking like a love story right now... more like a..... I don't even....*shakes head* anyway, I apologise now. You asked for it..........

Excerpt:

“Nate?” I whisper. “Maybe I took a wrong turn.”
Silence.

“Nate!” I yell down the phone. “This isn’t funny.”

“I’m not laughing, sis. Keep going, we can see your headlights.” What am I doing? I’m basically relying on the fact that Nate and I had bonded a little and that both our parents are together. I’m not sure those facts are worth my life. No, he wouldn’t. I’m just being paranoid. The only time, except for school, where I didn’t bring my fucking pistol either. I sag in defeat. My dad will not be impressed with my not carrying, and my mom will no doubt be screaming at me from the other side about how these are the reasons why she and my dad educated me so much on firearms. I’ve failed as a fucking daughter. I shuffle up in my seat.

“Nate, I don’t fucking see anything up here but ja—OMG!” I slam on the breaks, all four tires locking up in a skid. I squeeze the steering wheel tightly, banging down the locks on the doors. “Nate!” I yell into the phone.

Silence.

Slowly, I look up out the front windscreen, the thick dust from my tires interrupting the loose gravel still floating in the air and that’s when I see it again.

Ten men.

Ten dark hoodies covering their faces.

Ten—“Nate..” understanding sets in. Ten.

Slamming the gear into reverse, I’m just about to floor it backwards—to hell with anything or anyone behind me—when my driver’s window smashes into a million pieces, the tiny shards of glass falling onto my lap. I scream, my hands coming up to shield my face just as an arm slips inside and pops up the lock.

A deep menacing chuckle breathes over the back of my neck just as a leather gloved hand wraps around my mouth and pulls me out of the car. “Hello Madison. You don't know us, but we know you. We want to play a game. Here's what happens if you lose...”

Review:

The Silver Swan, by Amo Jones, is the first installment of The Elite King's Club Series. This was my first time reading a book by this author. Many of my book sisters told me amazing things about Amo Jones and I could not wait to start my reading journey. TSS was an intense and intriguing reading escape. I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out where all the pieces of this captivating puzzle would fit.

Madison Montgomery is ready for a new beginning. Her first day at Riverside Preparatory Academy is a blank canvas and she's determined to turn the page on her tainted past. What she did not expect is to catch the attention of The Elite King's Club. They are dangerous and mesmerizing. Madison is intrigued by them. They have a captivating, dark and intense vibe that pulls her in. Danger is lurking around Madison and with each day that passes, she's determined to find out what The Elite King's Club is hiding. Will she be able to handle the truth?

I really enjoyed my reading journey. The connection between all the characters in this story was great. It was interesting to follow Madison's journey. This book is filled with secrets that will turn Madison's world upside down. No matter how many times I was coming up with theories, Amo Jones always added a new detail that would make me erase those theories and begin thinking of new ones.

The Elite King’s crew is intriguing. Each of these characters have a je-ne-sais-quoi that made the story even more interesting. They are all keeping secrets and I can’t wait to find out what those secrets are. Bishop and Nate were the two male characters that got the most scenes with Madison, but all the other members of this crew left me wanting more. It took me a few chapters to find my connection with Bishop. He was an enigma from beginning to end. I never knew which Bishop would show up. I loved Madison’s POV and her friendship with Tate and Tillie. These girls are great heroines and I loved learning about them. I think that they each deserve a book, but only time will tell if they get a story of their own.

Rating:

I give, The Silver Swan, by Amo Jones, 4 captivating, edge of your seat, action-filled stars!

Love Comes in Many Forms

I am a mega fan of this series like you have no idea. If you are looking for a good Angel series then this is the one. It has everything love loss passion despair betrayal reunion and most of all ANGLES!! Hello enough said, the first 3 books will have you clamoring for the next. This 4th installment took some time but man oh man was it ever worth the wait. Jeremy is still very lost but we get to delve into his mind and it is wonderful. I highly recommend this series Castillo does not disappoint get ready to be at the edge of your seat throughout all books.

The Story, Jeremy has lost a whole lot and his memory is choppy to say the least. He loves his brother and his family(whom he has recently been reunited to) so he is willing to sacrifice his heart. Unfortunately that is easier said than done when things get to be too much Jeremy leaves. Some of his peers know what is really bothering him and his heart can no longer take the pain. He was used to flirting and toting the line but something has changed fundamentally and he can never go back to being the way he was before. While on hiatus Jeremy begins to recover and find what was lost within his soul, but he gets too close. Jeremy has a job to do and it must come before everything else even if it means that his heart will break all over again. Returning home leads to an assignment that will create an irreparable rift. His enemy is up to something and he will have to find a way to stop him before more damage can be done.

The Characters, Jeremy oh Jeremy where fore art thou Jeremy would a Jeremy by any other name be so awesome? NOPE there is only one Jeremy and he rocks. I was beyond excited to see him get his story and it was wonderful. I felt especially bad for his current situation I really want him to find peace sadly that time has yet to come. One of the things I admire most about him is his commitment to his position. Following the rules is probably the hardest thing to do ever in the history of hard things to do. Jeremy gets a lot of flack and I wanted to back hand those people! Seriously, yeesh talk about overreacting he is the angel of death not the angel of murder…there’s a difference and people who don’t know that need to take a deep breath and check themselves. Jeremy makes a key friend that I am hoping there will be more to…like in serious detail. I want to talk about that person but I don’t want to spoil anything. Just know this other person’s awesome chart competes with Jeremy’s awesome chart.

The End, everything comes crashing down. Its not looking good for the home team at all. The people who helped Jeremy find himself again sigh things are currently very hard for them. His enemy has a plan up his sleeve and he has to figure out what that is before his family pays a price. Now, for the state of current affairs. Rather than moving closer to mending his heart an assignment will ensure that impossibility. I will say Castillo is shockingly cleaver when it comes to the HEA and I look forward to seeing how she manages this one. I have certain wishes involving certain surfers and the flow of time in heaven. Insert overly exaggerated winky face here ___.

My Rating
5.0 Heaven, Dreams, Kiss, Hall, Candles, Island, Shack, Waves, Surfboard, Fire, Uri, Assignment, Welita, Confrontation, Rage, Promise, Determined to keep  everyone safe, the love of family is stronger than everything and Jeremy will do anything to protect that filled stars!!!

Synopsis:

What do ice cream and Sadie Montgomery have in common? They're both ice cold, but one taste is never enough.

I wanted to be friends — I would have even settled for her seeing me as anything but a nerd — but there was no getting through. So just like any hard-headed, red-blooded man out there, I made up my mind.

I’d make my coworker fall for me.

I’d like to say it was simple, but like every other epic love story, all it took was one drunken night and a lot of naked courage to get the girl. For a moment, at least.

Love with a coworker is never simple, especially since Sadie’s trying to keep us on the low. Not to mention her persistent ex-boyfriend who won’t leave her alone. But I’ve never been good at giving up, and I don’t plan to start now.

The whole thing is a recipe for a rocky road, but I plan to eat the whole gallon, no matter how bad the brain freeze.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing... enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Book Review: Pawn of the Phoenix (The Memory Collector #2) by Jamie McLachlan

Pawn of the Phoenix

(The Memory Collector #2)
by
Jamie McLachlan
Published February 9th 2016
by Penner Publishing

Summary
Braxton, 1903. The serial killer known only as the Phoenix continues to roam the streets and a new victim falls prey. For Moira and Detective Keenan Edwards, still on the hunt for the Phoenix, the rules have changed. The killer remains beyond their grasp.

Moira is willing to give into her fierce attraction to Keenan. However, the detective proves to be more reluctant despite a moment of heated passion. Then discovery of a secret Keenan never planned to share creates an unwelcome rift between the new lovers.

Keenan isn’t the only one hiding something. In this continuation of the Memory Collector series, Moira makes a startling disclosure about her past. This revelation will not only test the boundaries of love, but might also prove to be the clue that will finally unravel the mystery of the Phoenix.

My Most Favorite Pawn Indeed!

Happy, happy, Happiest DANCE!! Okay okay…Let me cease my gushing. First off what a kick butt cover huh? Totally rock star status. You all must know Pawn of the Phoenix was on my most anticipated reads that’s a big deal guys! Let me just say life is full of disappointments and I am totally overjoyed with the fact that my anticipation for this book was NOT one of them! Gosh this was almost a perfect read!!! ALMOST!! McLachlan really delivered…So close to 5 stars that my anticipation for the next is even more heightened. When I jumped into this book I was thrown back into the mystery and wonderful aura that set the tone for adventures to come. This picks up right after the first I thought the beginning was a tiny bit slow. Don’t worry though it doesn’t last right at 30% I could not put it down and I was back into the characters and completely caught up with everything that was happening all around. McLachlan is truly talented and I can’t wait to see what happens in the final installment because I know its going to be great.

The Story, the Phoenix is still on the loose Moira(Love that Name!) and detective Keenan begin to do the tango of wills and desires. The rules of the game have changed and the looming threat is ever present in everyone’s life. Moira knows something needs to be done to find the empath causing all of this chaos but she doesn’t trust. One thing is certain as people are murdered and replaced change is in the horizon. The elite have her under their thumb but she begins to change. Keenan has rubbed off on her and she seeks justice for the innocents that have served as pawns and perished because of it. The mystery is intense and two major questions are answered. Keenan’s past comes crashing into the forefront and Moira discovers something about herself that will change everything. I know McLachlan has some major magic up her sleeve and she is going to release all of that awesomeness in the next book! I can’t wait!

The Characters, Moira grows immensely in this installment. She has been through so much pain since she was a young girl and those scars run very deep. Though she doesn’t trust, something fundamental happens, she begins to truly empathize with those that have lost everything. Determined to make a change and bring justice Moira’s character really grows for the best. She has feelings for Keenan that started as just an attraction but have morphed into so much more. Though her feelings are strictly forbidden something about his person pulls at her heart and guides her into his arms. She is not perfect, far from it in fact she makes several mistakes. One that turns out to be a blessing but the other could mean the very end of everything she has worked so hard to obtain. Keenan, still aloof and still super dreamy in this installment we see a side to him that is very surprising. He too isn’t perfect but we see his fire for justice and his immeasurable perseverance for discovery. He has worked very hard for the life he has and I have a feeling we’ve only scratched the surface when it comes to him. GAH there are two other characters that I cannot name because I don’t want to throw speculation in the air, just know this…I think we have been given very strategic crumbs that will come together to make the world’s most magical Bundt Cake!

The End, WOW get ready to be blown away! This is the type of cliffhanger that makes my imagination and anticipation soar. Well played McLachlan well played! I had an inkling but I never imagined for things to play out the way they did in the end. Moira and Keenan are so close to the Phoenix that it’s scary. Several pieces are in place and Moira has discovered so much about herself I hope she has the strength to pull herself out of the darkness. There is a lot of resolution...tensions and passions reach all time highs and the author does a marvelous job of weaving everything together in the most delicious way. Bravo, Bravo, I will be dying slowly until I can get my hands on the next! I’ve come to care for Moira and want her to find the peace and happiness she so deserves.

My Rating
4.5 Town Home, Romance Novel, Bath, Nude, Mr. Hayes, Jonathan, Keenan, Chief, Letter, Phoenix, Note, Date, Games, Hangman, Blond, Child, Elite, Memories, Devin, Devin, Devin, Clocks, Stairs, Visit, Obsession, Oppression, The promise of dark things to come, Holy Moly I can’t wait for the next!!

About the Author

I write speculative fiction, anything that challenges the boundaries of my imagination. My Dark Fantasy novel, Mind of the Phoenix, is now available for ebook and paperback. Look for the next novel in the Memory Collector Series, entitled Pawn of the Phoenix.

When I'm not writing, I'm most likely reading. I wish I had the power to read an entire book with just one touch, but, alas, I don't. If left to my own devices, my house would have been cluttered with them. But my husband insisted I limit my collection to just the bookshelves. Along with reading, my hobbies include photography, sewing, scrapbooking, drawing, etc. Oh, and I've acquired a newfound interest in Archery.

As the puzzling pieces of her past start to come together, it's clear something's amiss. But nothing can prepare her for the shocking reality of what really happened that fateful day seven years ago.

Girl in the Mirror is a psychological romantic thriller with a twist you'll NEVER see coming!

Explanation about this new series
by Elizabeth Reyes:

Okay so Monday when I announced the cover reveal was coming I mentioned this "stand alone" has now turned into a series and that I'd explain a little more today ---> Here goes.

Teaser:

Lindy's Thoughts:

I have loved every single one of Elizabeth Reyes' stories. However, she has always written light-hearted romances full of steamy scenes, and strong secondary story lines involving friends and family. These stories have been filled with humor, and fun, as well as the tough realities of loss and heartbreak.

Girl in the Mirror is completely new territory for Ms. Reyes. However, it was no less phenomenal. In this story, Ms. Reyes ventures in to mystery, suspense, danger, and plot twists! She has nailed a new genre with this coming out novel!!!

Girl in The Mirror is told mostly from the perspective of Margaret "Maggie" Hellman, who wakes up in a hospital unable to speak or remember who she is. She later learns from her Neurologist that she has retrograde amnesia. As she begins the recovery process, she is sad to learn that she was in a car accident with her identical twin sister, Madeline, and best friend Shelby; both of whom did not survive. She cannot remember either of them, but her mother fills her on on some of the missing pieces of her memory, old pictures, and details from her past.

When Maggie goes to visit her twin sister's grave, she meets Nicholas "Nico" Cortez, (her sister's former boyfriend,) and feels a strong connection and longing for him. While she had been having small triggers, where images, sights, and sounds would make her feel unexplained emotion; these triggers begin to increase after meeting "Nico." Soon, with the help of Maggie's new friend, Clarisse, they decide to unravel the mystery of Maggie's past. However, she is in no way prepared for what will be discovered...

Girl in the Mirror, was a riveting, fast-paced read. I rapidly turned the pages, as I too felt like I was investigating Maggie's past. With each new clue uncovered, I was desperate to solve the mystery. Along the way, there was suspense, drama, romance, and a tinge of danger. I had an inkling of what the surprise twist could be, but was in no way prepared for all of the details surrounding it.

I loved the end of the story! It gave me closure, as well as a bittersweet ending with plenty of "feels," laughs, and swoons. I loved it! I hope Ms. Reyes continues to incorporate stories of suspense and psychological twists in her vast writing repertoire. I would also like to mention that all of the Cortez brothers were delicious, and I hope that they each get their own story. That would be quite the treat!!!

My Rating:

I give, Girl in The Mirror, by Elizabeth Reyes, 5 Spine-Tingling, Yearning, Longing, Suspenseful, Mysterious, Finding the Missing Piece of the Puzzle, Filled Stars! If you love a suspenseful, and sexy romantic thriller; you have to read this one!!! It will have you obsessed and rapidly turning pages, until the very end!

Mikki's Review:

I’m a big fan of Elizabeth Reyes. I have read every single book that she has published and I loved every single one of my reading escapes. Her words always captivate me and her stories linger with me for a long time. Her characters are unforgettable and so easy to relate to. When she announced that she was going to publish a book that was a bit different from what she usually writes, I was pretty excited. Girl In The Mirror was supposed to be a standalone book, but I am so glad the author took a different direction with this book and is making it a series. GITM can be read as a standalone because the story is complete and the other books will focus on other characters.

Margaret Hellman wakes up with no memories from her past. The only thing she knows is that she was involved in a car accident and that she lost her memory. Years have passed from that night that turned her world upside down. The little glimpses she gets from her past trigger a hurricane of emotions in her. Something is missing in her life and she won’t stop until she finds out what it is. She’s on a mission to discover what happened that night. Is Margaret ready to come face-to-face with her past?

Gah!!! This book made me go bananas!!! I was trying to put together the pieces of an intricate puzzle. I was following Maggie’s journey and I was taking notes of each detail that could help me uncover the mystery revolving around her accident. It’s difficult to review this book without giving spoilers away. What I can tell you is that you will probably have many theories of what happened to Maggie. I kept changing my mind with each new detail that was added to her story. I did figure out what happened to her before it was revealed, but that did not take anything away from my amazing reading journey.

The new characters from this series are incredibly addictive! The hero in this story is swoon worthy and intriguing. The connection he has with Maggie is amazing and the more they shared moments together, the more I was cheering for them to forget about the past and live in the moment. The supporting cast of characters surrounding Maggie and the H are awesome and I can’t wait to read more about them. I’m really excited to see who will be the main character in the next installment.

My Rating:

I give, Girl In The Mirror, 5 intense, emotional, intriguing, follow your heart stars!

About Elizabeth Reyes:

About me? Well, I was born and raised and continue to live in sunny southern California. I’m married and have two wonderful young adults. My love for writing began when I was just a kid though, I never really had any dreams or aspirations of doing it for a living. Then along came the age of eReaders and with it indie publishing and I saw an opportunity to get my writing out for the world to read without jumping through hoops and getting past the red tape of trying to get traditionally published. The Moreno Brothers series has literally changed my life. I now wake up to go to work a few yards from my bed. 5th Street is my second series. There is also the Moreno Brothers spin-off series Fate with with seven completed full length novels. I have two stand alones Desert Heat and Defining Love including one I wrote under my pen name Remi’s Choice. I now have a new series coming Boyle Heights, but the future looks bright and I have many more to come! So stay tuned!
