Review:

In October of 2014 I read my first book from Maya Banks. That book was the first installment of her Slow Burn Series, Keep Me Safe. Since that day I have been a fan. I have waited for every single new book in this series and I once again I was not disappointed! Safe At Last brings us the heartbreaking story of two people who embark on an emotional journey that will heal their broken hearts.

Zack Covington can't forget his first and only love. Gracie was everything to him. Twelve years ago they were happy and in love, but one horrible night changed everything and Gracie went missing. Zack has looked everywhere for Gracie. Her disappearance has caused an emptiness in his heart and in his life. Working with DSS is all his time and with the help of his friends life goes on. When DSS gets a call for a special event Zack comes face-to-face with his Gracie. He is shocked to see she is alive and well. She is terrified of him, but she won't tell him why. As days go by, Zack and Gracie get closer together, but the horrible events of the past keep them apart. Will Zack and Gracie be able to find their way to one another again?

Safe At Last is my favorite book of the series!  Zack and Gracie had such a strong connection. You could feel the love that Zack had for his Gracie. She was everything to him. My heart broke when I found out what happened all those years ago. Zack was such a strong character. He was determined to find out what happened to Gracie and once he did, he did not rest until she was safe and happy back in his arms. I have to admit that even though I connected with Gracie, she really got me upset at times. Zack was trying his best to make her feel comfortable and she kept on pushing him away. I understand why she did it, but Zack deserved a chance to know what happened to her all those years ago. 

Most of this book revolves around the mystery of what happened twelve years ago. I did find that some of the scenes were repetitive, but that did not make me enjoy the book less.  A few people are out for revenge and that puts Zack, Gracie and the whole DSS crew in danger. That part of the book was extremely intense and scary at times. Danger is lurking everywhere around them. I was extremely happy for how things ended between Zack and Gracie. It was an emotional journey that these two shared. Zack's perseverance left me speechless! The way he loved and took care of Gracie made my heart melt! Gracie was cold with Zack most of the time, but he never gave up on her. 

What I really loved about this book is that I got the chance to read about my favorite characters from the previous books. They all brought something special to Zack and Gracie's story. I have to admit that Eliza once again stole my heart! I am so happy to hear that she is getting her own book. The chemistry between Eliza and Wade is super intense! Safe At Last was an emotional reading journey about hope, forgiveness and healing. I highly recommend this series if you are looking for romantic suspense series that will keep you at the edge of your seat.

My Review of Keep Me Safe HERE

A couple of months ago I got the chance to read Keep Me Safe, which is the first installment of the Slow Burn Series by Maya Banks. It was my first time reading a book by this author and I really enjoyed it. When I finished the first book, I knew that Beau’s story was coming up next. He was quite an enigma and I could not wait to found out more about him. 

This second installment of the Slow Burn Series is about Arial & Beau. Arial has been living a happy life with her parents, but her secret keeps her from having a normal life. When mysterious events start happening, and Arial is left alone to fight for her life, she turns to Beau Devereaux for help. From the moment they meet, there is an instant attraction between them. Beau does not mix business with pleasure, but he can't deny the connection he feels towards Arial. As danger gets closer, and their feelings get stronger, Arial and Beau will have to work together to fight the evil that is lurking in the shadows. 

In His Keeping was an action-packed reading journey from beginning to end! It was fast-paced, and the story kept me glued to my seat. What I really liked about this installment is that we got to read about Ari’s life since the moment she was abandoned as a baby. It was exciting to read her story and it actually made me connect more with the secondary characters much more. Ari’s adoptive parents are such an amazing couple ! I felt the love that they had for one another. I was cheering for Ari to find that special kind of love with Beau. I am not a huge fan of insta-love stories. I like the romance to be slow building. Things went a bit to fast in my opinion in Ari and Beau’s relationship. Nonetheless, I totally fell in love with them by the end of their intense journey together. They had great chemistry and I connected with them from the very beginning. 

I was so happy to check-in with Ramie, Caleb, Eliza, Dane, Zach and Quinn. The next installment in this series, Safe At Last, will feature Zach. He works for the Devereaux brothers and he had an important presence in In His Keeping. I really liked him and I can’t wait to read about his journey. I’m not sure if the other Devereaux siblings will get their own books, but I sure hope so! The Slow Burn novels that I have read until now have been great reading escapes! I’m crossing my fingers that we do get more books in this series.

Review:

When I found out that I would have the opportunity to review Keep Me Safe, from Maya Banks, I was super excited! I have heard many great things about her and I was excited that I would finally get a chance to read one of her books! The problem with me is that I get confused if the author has too many books out ... lol!! I see five star reviews everywhere and I have no clue with what book or series I should start with. But, never fear, there is always an answer for everything! It was meant to be that I had to start with the Slow Burn Series. It's really different from what I usually read and I loved all the twists and turns that the author incorporated in the story.

Ramie St.Claire has a gift that can help others. But, that gift sends her running. When Caleb Devereaux's sister goes missing, he will do everything in his power to find her. He knows that Ramie can help him find her. When Caleb sees what Ramie went through to find his sister, he is devastated. He wants to help her in any way that he can. When Ramie finds herself on the run again, she can't go forward without Caleb's help. As the days go by, Caleb is determined to protect and help Ramie, but will he be ready to fight against all the evil that lurks in the shadows? 

Holy Moly! What an emotional rollercoaster ride! This first installment, of the Slow Burn Series, kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time while I was reading it! I wanted answers, my heart was beating fast and I was scared to find out who was behind all of this insanity! Every scene was playing like a movie in my head. 

I really liked Ramie and Caleb. I have to admit that I connected with them individually pretty fast, but it took me some time to get used to them as a couple. I only felt the chemistry between them grow more towards the end of the book. I'm the kind of reader that loves instant chemistry, but with a slow building romance. I did not expect Caleb to fall so hard for Ramie. It almost took no time for him to let her know how he felt. They only met on one occasion before Ramie came back into his life. It was too fast in my opinion to talk about the feelings he had for her. I can't deny that he was exactly what Ramie needed. He cared for her, he protected her and he gave her a real home. Caleb brought her comfort and peace. She so desperately wanted peace for once in her life. With Caleb by her side she can finally have good dreams.

I don't want to give out any spoilers, but I really want to say that this story surprised me, had my stomach in knots the whole time, and Oh.my.crap!!!!! That ending?!?!??!?! I was SHOCKED!!! My heart broke for Ramie. She endured so much to be able to help others. What happened to her was devastating! She had to fight to stay alive every.single.day.

The Slow Burn Series if off to an amazing start! I can't wait for Beau's story, which is the next installment in this series. It took me sometime to get comfortable with Caleb's siblings, but by the end of the book I wanted to learn more about them. 

On another note .... 

Eliza and Dane ---> Instant love for both these characters! 

I really hope we see more of them in the following books :)
