The stakes are the highest they've ever been for him when he finally sings it to her, but will it be enough to keep her? I can't thank Brad Yunek and Dan Keseloff enough for writing this beautiful song to accompany Jake and Addie's story. About LISTEN TO ME:

In New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Proby’s brand new series, five best friends open a hot new restaurant, but one of them gets much more than she bargained for when a sexy former rock star walks through the doors—and into her heart. Seduction is quickly becoming the hottest new restaurant in Portland, and Addison Wade is proud to claim 1/5 of the credit. She’s determined to make it a success and can’t think of a better way to bring in new customers than live music. But when former rock star Jake Keller swaggers through the doors to apply for the weekend gig, she knows she’s in trouble. Addie instantly recognizes him—his posters were plastered all over her bedroom walls in high school—he’s all bad boy...exactly her type and exactly what she doesn’t need.

Jake Keller walked away from the limelight five years ago and yearns to return to what’s always driven him: the music. If he gets to work for a smart-mouthed, funny-as-hell bombshell, all the better. But talking Addie into giving him the job is far easier than persuading her that he wants more than a romp in her bed. Just when she begins to drop her walls, Jake’s past finally catches up with him. Will Addie be torn apart once again or will Jake be able to convince her to drown out her doubts and listen to her heart?

He just didn’t expect their steamy chemistry to trigger an avalanche of desire straight to his heart.

Excerpt from LOVING CARA (Book 1):

“This is a great place,” I murmur, and turn in a complete circle, taking everything in. The forest is thick here, but with a clearing by a wide pool of water, which is being fed by a creek that empties into it via a beautiful waterfall about twenty yards away. Slabs of rock frame the pond, making a natural ledge to sit on and enjoy nature.

“This is where I’ve always come whenever I’m happy or mad or just need to think.” Josh wraps his arms around me from behind and kisses the top of my head.

“You brought me to your happy place?” I ask, half kidding, and turn my head to kiss his biceps. I can’t seem to keep my lips off this man.

And he doesn’t seem to mind.

“It seems that anywhere you are is my happy place these days, Carolina.”

I gasp and look up into his soft brown eyes.

“So, I brought the person who makes me happy to my happy place,” he clarifies.

Well . . . wow.

Before I can respond, he kisses my lips quickly and then pulls away to grab a blanket out of a saddlebag. He takes me by the hand and leads me up onto the rocks by the water. He spreads the blanket out and pulls me down next to him.

“Are you hungry?” he asks, and pushes my hair back over my shoulder.

“Not quite yet.”

He nods and his eyes heat as they rake down my face, my neck, and over my tank top, which I know shows off the girls nicely.

If he was going to keep me perpetually turned on today, I was happy to return the favor.

“You are so beautiful,” he whispers, and leans in to claim my mouth gently. His lips are gentle and soft, sweeping across my own rhythmically yet slowly, sending shivers down my arms and making my stomach clench.

He has only touched me with his lips and my stomach is clenched. I’m panting, ready for him to take me right here, in the middle of nature.

He cups my cheeks in the palm of his hand and pulls me closer, sinking into the kiss, but then he abruptly pulls back, his brows pulled into a frown.

“You really are warm,” he mutters, and feels my neck and forehead.

I laugh at him as I rub my hand up and down his firm chest. “It’s hot outside, Josh.”

“Let’s cool off.” He smiles down at me wickedly and begins to peel me out of my clothes.

“We might give the wildlife quite a show,” I warn him mildly, excitement coursing through me.

“That’s the plan.” He winks at me and quickly strips out of his own clothes. He pulls me up onto my feet and peels my jeans and panties down my legs.

“Now what?” I ask with a wide smile.

 “Now we cool off.”

My Thoughts:

Baby, It's Cold Outside was a great romantic anthology that will get you in the mood for the holiday season.  When I got the opportunity to review this book, I was impressed by the list of authors.  Jennifer Probst, and Emma Chase are two of my absolute favorites!  I've read every single book both of these authors have ever written, and can never get enough of their story telling skills.  I've read two books by Kristen Proby and enjoyed them.  However, I had never read anything by Melody Anne, and Kate Meander and was curious about them, from the simple fact that they were paired with such great authors.

This anthology was so fun, entertaining, romantic, and sexy.  I enjoyed all five of the stories that were told.  I also count myself lucky to have discovered two new to me authors, that did an amazing job!  Themes that were common in these stories, included rekindling of an old flame, taking chances, new beginnings, and learning from past mistakes.   All of these stories were very sexy, steamy, and romantic!

I give Baby, It's Cold Outside, 4 Warm, Cozy, Happy, Holiday Cheer Filled Stars!  This is the perfect book to read sitting by the fire place with a cup of cocoa or coffee, while it's raining or snowing outside.  Even though many of the stories are novella's based on a series, they can be read as stand alones and you will not feel lost.  If anything, the two novella's in which I had never heard of the series' were so great, that I found myself looking up the books that went with them in the kindle bookstore.  That's how good they are!!!  The ones that were based off of series' that I already love, were like the cherry on top of an already amazing ice cream sunday.

This anthology is perfect if you want to read one story per sitting, or the book the whole way through.  For an anthology, the stories were perfect in length; not too short and not too long!  I would highly recommend, Baby, It's Cold Outside, if you love romance, the holidays, great stories, and an awesome sampling of a variety of talented authors.

Love Under the Big Sky Series:
My Review on Loving Cara Here

My Thoughts:

Seducing Lauren was a wonderful and romantic read.  It was such a pleasure, and I enjoyed it significantly more than, Loving Cara.  This story was really well-developed, fast-paced, swoon-worthy, and steamy!!!  Seducing Lauren was Josh's best friend, Ty's story, and the beautiful, well-off, and down to earth, Lauren (Lo).  Each of the stories in the series can be read as stand-alone's, but share core characters.

In Seducing Lauren, Lo is dealing with a difficult time is her life.  Her divorce from a gold-digging, manipulative, ruthless, and at times abusive man, has just been finalized.  However, he has found out about a trust fund that she came in to once her parents died.  He is suing her for what he feels is his rightful share of the money.  Lo would give him the money, but on principle she decides to fight him in court.  After all, she found out that he cheated on her throughout their whole marriage, never loved her, and just used her for her money.  Lauren tries to hire Ty for her lawsuit, because she feels that her current lawyer isn't doing a good enough job.  However, Ty let's her know that it would be a conflict of interest, because he has feelings for her.  He decides to help her lawyer with the case, and after he lets Lo know how he feels, he is determined to date her, and make her his!

I absolutely loved Ty and Lo.  Ty was a modern day, "Knight and Shinning Armor." He was loyal, protective, and such a sexy man!!!  These two had a scorching hot chemistry, and were a perfect match.  They always had a friendship, although they were more like aquaintances.  I loved watching their friendship and relationship develop and blossom in to a beautiful love.

It was great to be reunited with characters from Loving Cara.  Cara, Josh, Jillian, Zach, and Seth make for an entertaining and enjoyable cast of secondary characters.  I feel like I get to know characters on a much deeper level when they cross-over in to the various stories in a series!  It was fun watching Lo and Cara's friendship grow.  I cannot wait for, the next book in the series, Falling For Jillian, to come out!!!  Jillian is such a wonderful character, and she deserves a "Happily Ever After!"  I give Seducing Lauren 4 "Tylicious," Romantic, "Forever Kind of Love," Filled Stars!!!

GR's Summary:

In this new Love Under the Big Sky series from a USA TODAY bestselling author, Cara agrees to tutor her former classmate's nephew—and learns some lessons in love!

Josh King is an expert at running his family’s multi-million dollar ranch in Montana. (And all that outside manual labor has done wonders for sculpting his six-foot-three body, too.) But as sure footed as he is when it comes to the ranch, Josh doesn’t know anything about how to deal with an adolescent boy—so when his twelve-year-old nephew, Seth, is dropped off on his doorstep, looking scared and acting surly as hell, Josh knows he needs help in straightening him out.

Cara Donovan loves her quiet life as a teacher in her sleepy hometown, so she jumps at the chance to make a little money over the summer as a tutor. But when she learns she’ll be teaching Josh King’s nephew, Cara’s sweet summer job gets a little bit hotter. Cara tries to focus all her attention on tutoring Seth, but Josh proves to be a delicious distraction, while Josh’s memories of the shy girl he once teased in high school are nothing like the beautiful woman he’s facing now. Can he persuade her that there’s more between them than a summer fling?

Love Under the Big Sky Series:

My Thoughts:

Loving Cara, is the first book that I've read by Kristen Proby.  I've heard great things about Ms. Proby, and was excited to read a story written by her.  Based off of the book cover, I was expected a sweet and romantic, old fashioned romance, with a hot cowboy.  This was the love story of Josh and Cara, told in their alternating perspectives.  The story began with Kensie (Josh's identical twin brother, Zach's, wife), abandoning her 12 year old son Seth, by dropping him off on the family ranch.  She then let's Zach's family know that Seth is their problem now, she's getting a divorce, and moving on with a man that doesn't want any kids.  Kensie instantly made me angry, and I could tell right away that Josh, and his parents were great people.  They tried to reassure Seth that the Ranch was his home, and he was welcome.  Seth was full of anger, which came as no surprise, and had been brainwashed by his mother that his father did not love him.

Unfortunately, Seth flunked out of all of his school subjects, so Josh, went through the middle school to hire a tutor for him for the summer.  He is completely caught off guard when he learns that Cara is his nephew's tutor.  Cara and Josh went to high school together, and Josh had remembered her as a sweet, but plain girl.  However, Cara has blossomed in to a knock-out.  Cara had a crush on Josh all of her years in high school, and is still strongly attracted to him when she see's him.  As Cara spends the summer tutoring Seth, the two grow closer, and she finds a way to connect with him, and help him with school, and life in general.  Also, Cara and Josh's attraction and feelings for one another intensify as they embark on the fast track for falling for one another.

The first half of the story was a bit slow for me.  I enjoyed the storyline between Seth, Josh, and the rest of the family.  Seth was my favorite character, and my heart really broke for him.  As far as Cara and Josh's relationship, I had a few problems with it.  For one, the two of them fell in love rather quickly.  I didn't feel like their relationship was very well developed.  It was pretty much, insta-love, and then insta-sex.  However, the sex scenes were pretty steamy!  This story was sweet, with very little angst.  On one hand, it was enjoyable to not have a lot of obstacles, but on the other hand, I think that the story could have used a bit more excitement.  I enjoyed the small town community, Josh, and Zach's parents, and the friendships in this story.  Cara's best friend Jill was a fun and humorous character that I really enjoyed.  The chemistry that Jill and Zach shared has me very interested to read their story.  I look forward to learning more about Jill's older brother, and Josh's best friend, Ty, as well as, Cara's ex- enemy, Lauren!

My Rating:

Overall, Loving Cara, by Kristen Proby was a predictable, sweet, and low-angst story.  I enjoyed the small sense of community in Montana, the close knit family, and friendships.  I would have enjoyed more character and relationship development, as well as a bit more excitement.  I give, Loving Cara 3 Hot Montana Cowboy Filled Stars!
