I have been a fan of Ms. Reed's for a while now. She introduced to me a super sexy yet often elusive Jett Mayfield along with a fireball no holds go getter Brooke Stewart. These two have been through more than your average fictional couple. However, having said that Ms. Brooke goes through certain regressions that I'm not fond of, and Jett is stuck being the habitual secret keeper. Something pretty terrible happened in the last installment that was explained right away in this installment to the reader but poor Brooke didn't get the affermation until 90% into the book. :0( 
My heart has seriously been breaking for Brooke but at the same time I've wanted to shake some sense into her. She will make a decision and go off the deep end. Then take everything back and start off at square one. Mistake after Mistake all she seems to do is flip out and go off the handle. BAM something crazy happens and she's back to square one. 
Jett is still the same devilishly sexy guy we've all come to love. BUT he still keeps secrets like in the worst way, he has had plenty of time to put Brooke's mind at ease but he won't do it. Adding to the mystery but at the same time adding to the drama and her antics. I know these two belong together I just wish they would hurry up and get there. 
I wanted answers and I can honestly say this installment provides some. Not all. But we are getting there :) and we even have some foreshadowing as to what the heck is really going on. 
I wasn't happy with much in way of the characters in this installment. I'm waiting for that growth and when everything starts to click together. I have a pretty good idea what will happen next. I hope that person pays for his evil, and games once and for all.

Brooke to step up. Jett to Open up. The "Bad Guy" to just finally die or something along those lines.

3.5 I'm pulling my hair out because these two should be living happily ever after by now!!! and I'm dying to see them reach their happy ending I can't wait.

When Will We Know The Truth

I have been a fan of Brooke and Jett for some time now. Having said that I would like to say The Lover’s Game was a difficult read for me. I want so many answers but haven’t gotten a single one. What happened to the strong determined woman who pursued her dreams and made them come true? In a previous review I suggested you read the Surrender Your Love series before delving into these. Now I’m not so sure. I feel like Brooke’s character has undergone serious regression. In the first book of this series Jett betrays Brooke in a horrible way. I honestly believe he loves her and has his reasons for all of the secrets but yeesh! The pain Brooke felt was palpable and my heart went out to her. She truly was broken… I get it, I get that she was in pain but all she did was pine away. There was a point in the story that she tried to completely erase Jett instead all she ended up doing was thinking about him the entire time. I seriously felt like it was pity party after pity party. There was zero resolution in this book not even a snippet.

Ms. Reed’s writing is interesting and full of drama. One thing to expect is expect the un-expectable. Like I mentioned earlier, I was hoping for answers but only found myself with more questions by the end. I am desperately hoping Brooke gets her head out of you know where so she can start focusing on what’s important. There are several things looming over-her-head and it was explained why she’s been acting the way she has but…My goodness I really miss that super strong independent person I fell in love with at the beginning of the Surrender Your Love series. Sylvie was just as amazing as she has always been. She is Brooke’s super glue I just hope that things start to come together in the next book because I may just die in the mean time. I love Sylvie’s determination to push Brooke towards what’s right and how to deal with her life and make the best of things.

My Wish

So so, so, so many! Jett to make more of an effort. Brooke to control her lady bits, pick up her big girl pants, and getter done! I have several more but I will leave it at that. For now.

3.5 Even though my review wasn’t very positive it doesn’t go against the writing or the story if anything this has made more passionate about the next book and the resolution I’m seeking. Get ready for a roller coaster of emotions with this one. You’ve been warned.

Jett always knows what he’s doing!! Sure what he did is mega jerky, but I'm sure there's more to it than meets the eye. I’m a huge fan of Brooke and Jett I fell in love with them right away and have been a loyal supporter ever since. The lovers secret picked up right after the Surrender Your Love series. I’m not going to lie I was saddened by the fact that Brooke and Jett had to endure more pain, but hey I was all for getting to see them again. These two are trying to figure out their relationship and the things that matter. Going back to the pain they had to endure was hard. The rumors say that this could be read as a stand alone but to get the best reading experience I recommend you read the Surrender Your Love Series before.

T-ime, Brooke has lived in darkness and mistrust for so long being with Jett should have brought her happiness but she can’t seem to trust him the way he wants her to.
H-ope, falling in love with Jett shouldn’t have happened but mixing business with pleasure tied Brooke’s hand and she really had no other choice.
E-scape, Jett has done so many things to keep Brooke safe its obvious to everyone he would sacrifice anything for her.

L-ure, Jett has planed a weekend for the two of them this will be the time they can relax and rediscover each other.
O-pportunity, role playing is something both Jett and Brooke seem to enjoy. Jett pulls out all of the stops to show Brooke he is invested.
V-ictim, Brooke is haunted by the events of her past. She cannot seem to get those images out of her head.
E-arned, Jett asks Brooke for something she is not ready to give. Unable to lie she tells Jett exactly how she feels about the situation.
R-ealize, checking her emails Brooke discovers something unsettling. Someone has taken interest in something that belongs to her.
S-hattered, one phone call will pull Jett away from the weekend he and Brooke were to enjoy.


S-urprise, meeting with her best friend Brooke gets sound mined advice that talks down all of Brooke’s insecurities.
E-vade, Brooke’s student loans and debts have surmounted quite a bit. Upon seeing her desperation a stranger offers Brooke a tempting solution.
C-lerk, a notice is given to Brooke crumbling her world and doubt seeping into her pores.
R-esolve, sitting down with a drink will help clear Brooke’s head. The best course of action is to think things through then have a discussion with Jett.
E-ncounter, never did Brooke imagine Jett would hurt her as severely as he is doing now. Parts of the puzzle start falling together the pain is too much and keeps her rooted to the seat.
T-rust, never again will Brooke fall victim to Jett she vow’s to make her own way and do things differently. If for nothing else she will do it for her unborn child.

Gah! Talk about a cliffhanger!! Whew good news is the next installment publishes Sept 9th! The wait won’t be too terrible. Brooke is betrayed in an unimaginable way. Though it broke my heart I hope she takes this opportunity to find herself. When I first read this series she came across as a strong self assured woman. In the Lover’s Secret I felt as though she lost part of that. I want her to get it back STAT! I’m super curious about what will surface. Reed likes to throw wrenches and make things go an entirely different direction. I’m sure Jett knows what he is doing and he is always full of surprises. I will say this though, his methods suck…I’m totally with Brooke whatever she decides. If Jett ever gets her back for his betrayal his motives and actions better be amazing. I recommend you read the Surrender Your Love series before picking these up. Though it can be read as a stand alone some of the events feel richer if you’ve read the previous books.
