Lindy's Thoughts:

The finale of Defining Love was superb!  It was full of anticipation, romance, and love, as well as rejection, remorse, and guilt.  Everything played out between Henri and Aaron.  They both had decisions to make, and we got to see the after effects of those choices.  All of my questions were answered, and an epilogue beautifully gave us a look in to all of the major characters lives.

Volume 3 was my favorite in this serial.  It was the longest segment, and yet I read it the fastest!  There were plot twists, surprises, dramatic situations, and a ton of passion.  We learn what love means to Henri and Aaron, and how their are different types of love.

I highly recommend the Defining Love Serial.  While the content was different than what I've read previously by Ms. Reyes, this story was still told in her signature style that brings realistic and authentic characters to life, and delivers a story that is addictive and full of entertainment!

Ro's Take on this Journey:

Defining Love, Vol. 3, by Elizabeth Reyes, was a multi-faceted novel filled with well-rounded characters, written in dual perspectives.  Ms. Reyes has yet again filled the hearts of many readers with a serial that touches each of them on so many levels.  She is able to touch the lives of a nation of peoples with her open minded, fertile imagination, and compellingly, passionate story telling.  Ms. Reyes has delved into so many taboo subjects with a fine tooth comb, and given her readers a window, if you will, into the world of compassion and empathy.

I have nothing by high praise for this phenomenal writer, on so many levels.  I have not only been honored to read and review her books, but also grateful for meeting such a wonderful, kind, human being.  Ms. Reyes will touch your hearts, make you feel the pain and joy of her characters, and make you want to be that person who can really make a difference in this world, by just being compassionate and aware.

Kuddos to Defining Love!  This third volume tied up all the lose ends, gave the readers answers to all the important questions, and opened hearts by example.  This novel will help others to realize that there is hope, and bad doesn't always have to win out.  People have so much good in them, they just have to reach down deep enough to find it.  I am sure you will feel this novel to the core, as I did.  I definitely recommend this serial as a must read on everyones' list!

The Queen of Romance, and now the Empress of Hope, who with her carefully sculpted novels has brought us hope for the future for all races, genders, and those who have to be pieced together due to the cruelties they have experienced in their difficult journeys, has done it again!

The Defining Love serial, by Elizabeth Reyes, was a surprise to me. I'm not really a fan of serials, but the author did a fantastic job at making me love them! This was an interesting and fascinating way of reading a book. I'm looking forward to giving more serials a chance. If they are going to be released like Defining Love was released (1 book per week), I am totally going to buy and read more serials as of today. Elizabeth Reyes tried something new and I loved it! 

It was fascinating to see the evolution of Henri and Aaron's relationship. It took me a bit of time to get really comfortable with this new concept, but as soon as I finished the second volume, I could not wait to read the conclusion to this passionate love story. I don't want to spoil anything for people that have not read the previous books yet. What I will say is that Henri and Aaron have a journey filled with obstacles. They no longer can deny the feelings that they have towards each other. Both of these characters will have to make decisions that will not only change their lives, but the lives of the people that they love. 

The title of this serial is exactly the reflection of Henri and Aaron's relationship. They embarked on a journey together and side-by-side they discovered what the real meaning of love is for them. It was thrilling to see that they each had a very different definition of love, but they ended up wanting the same thing. This volume was packed with twists and revelations. It was everything I hoped it would be! It gave me all the feels and I was left with a big smile when I read the Epilogue.

Defining Love was very different for me. It was like a breath of fresh air! There are so many books out there to read. I'm always looking for my next exciting reading escape! I have found it with Defining Love and I hope you love it just as much as I did!

Volume Two of Defining Love picks right up where the first volume ended.  Aaron couldn't get Henri out of his mind.  So, he sets up the opportunity for Henri to begin working at his business.

Now with both Aaron and Henri seeing one another day to day, the dynamic between them begins to shift.  They begin sharing their personal lives with one another, and a friendship quickly blossoms.  Simultaneously, attraction and deeper feelings begin to develop.  Options are going to need to be weighed, decisions made, and consequences dealt with.

Things begin to pick up in the second volume of Defining Love.  We get the dual perspectives of Henri and Aaron which brings to light where they both are mentally and emotionally concerning their individual relationships, and feelings toward one another.  The intense connection between Henri and Aaron grows exponentially in this volume.  The sexual chemistry and anticipation of the inevitable raises to an all time high.

Ro's Take on this Journey:

Defining Love, Vol.2, by Elizabeth Reyes is the sequel in this serial.  This novel takes off with an explosion of excitement!  The entire series is done in alternating views from Aaron to Henri.  We know what each is thinking at all times.  The pace is written so well that you are swept into each new perspective so rapidly that you can't put the novel down.  

Aaron and Henri both have had an overwhelming attraction to each other since they first met on New Years Eve.  Neither has made any move, and stayed in their respective relationships.  Yet, each has emotionally left their relationships for the other.  Aaron finds a way to manipulate the situation to get his unaware sister, Bea, to bring Henri into his business as an employee.  Once that begins, all bets are off!

The two begin a cat and mouse game of sorts with each other, and at the same time, guilt is pouring out of each of them to do the right thing.  Neither crosses the line physically, but emotionally they have to face the facts! Their requited love becomes intense to say the least, and once these two unleash their passion, there is no stopping them.  You will feel for them and their significant others.  The pain they suppress and their partners endure is palpable.  Your hearts will ache for all of them.

This novel brings them all into a realization about themselves and each other. Aaron has had a pretty privileged life, and finally realizes that the woman he has fallen in love with has scars that run very deep.  He tries to help Henri.  He sees her beauty inside and out.  The question is:  Can Henri see herself through to the future, and leave her guilt and shame behind her.  This is a fast paced, fascinating read!

This new series, which is a serial of three volumes, by Elizabeth Reyes, is a new reading experience for me. I don't handle cliffhangers well. When a book ends that way I count down the days until I can get my hands on the rest of the story! Elizabeth Reyes' writing style is amazing and you get attached to her characters pretty fast. You always wish you can have more time with them.

This second volume picks up exactly where the first one left off. Henri has accepted an offer to go work for Aaron. She's not sure how well she will adapt to this new job, but one thing is sure, her new boss is making her feel things she should not feel. They are both in serious relationship with other people and the more time they spend together, the more they are attracted to each other. Aaron proposed to his longtime girlfriend, but the spark in their relationship as disappeared. Henri is like a breath of fresh air in his life. He is blown away by her ideas and the dedication that she has for her work. As days go by, Henri and Aaron realize that the feelings that they have for each other are mutual. What will happen next?

I knew going  into this second volume that the ending was going to leave me at the edge of my seat! We get a dual POV that describes perfectly what Henri and Aaron are going through.  Keeping their feelings a secret from each other, and from others, is difficult. Insecurities are starting to surface and it's becoming harder for both these characters to stay connected with the people they love. Even if nothing happened between Henri and Aaron there is some emotional cheating going on. I really don't know how I feel about this. In my opinion, if you don't love somebody anymore you should let them go. I have heard that you can love two people at the same time, but not with the same intensity. Henri and Aaron are in that situation. They both love the people they are with, but they have a bond between them that is stronger than anything they have ever felt.

This was a great continuation to Henri and Aaron's journey. I can't wait to see what's next for them. I am positive that the last volume of this series will be an emotional one. Even if they find happiness together, the people that they love at the moment will have a broken heart.

The first volume of Elizabeth Reyes' Defining Love Serial Series is vastly different from anything else that I've read written by her; but no less enjoyable.  Volume one sets the stage for the rest of this story.  We are introduced to the main characters, Henrietta, "Henri," and Aaron.

Henri has had a very difficult life, and is very mature for a nineteen year old college student.  She has known abandonment and traumatic loss.  Aaron is more than ten years older than Henri.  He has everything in his life going for him.  He is a firefighter, and has just started his own business.

Both Henri and Aaron are in serious relationships with good people.  They have been best friends with their partners for many years, and while content, both relationships are lackluster, and are more like friendships than passionate romances.  Yet, they stay with their partners because they are too scared to lose the one person in their lives that mean the most to them.

One night, Henri is invited to her friend Beatriz' New Years Eve Party.  While there, she has a short, but meaningful conversation with Beatriz' older brother Aaron.  There is an attraction between the two, and Aaron is impressed by Henri's maturity and beauty.  Henri thinks Aaron is gorgeous, sexy, and enjoys talking to him.  After this conversation, neither one of them can stop thinking about the other...

The end of Volume One is climatic, and leaves the reader desperate to jump in to the next volume of the serial.  Both Henri and Aaron were very likable characters.  There was one fairly large plot twist in volume one that I did not see coming!        

My Rating:

I give, Defining Love, Volume One, by Elizabeth Reyes 4 Entertaining, Intriguing, and Surprising Plot-Twist Filled Stars!  Ms. Reyes gives us the foundation of the story, and before you know it, you are hooked, and ready to read more!  The characters are complex, and fully developed.  I am really looking forward to beginning Volume Two, and can tell that this is where more action in the story is going to take place!

Defining Love, by Elizabeth Reyes is Dynamic! Volume 1, in the three part series, will light a fire in the pilot light of your soul. I never thought I would say this, but once again, Eli, has outdone herself in this masterfully written novelette. Defining Love is the story of Henrietta, "Henri Magana." Henri is a young girl who is placed in the foster system with her older sister, Celia. The only person she can depend on, until the day comes when she turns 18, and must also leave Henri. The devastation is palpable. My heart was crushed for Henri. Her life is turned upside down, and she must pick up the pieces, put her nose to the grind stone and study as hard as she can. Henri learns to reinvent herself, with the help of her distant Aunt Gemma, she never knew existed, when it is time for her to leave the system. 

Henri meets Erendida, Edi, a friend at school, who becomes her rock. Edi is beautiful, smart, athletic, and the girl everyone wishes she could be. When another devastation happens to Henri, Edi is there to help her pick up the pieces. The two of these girls are inseparable, and are wonderful, loving, caring friends with each other. The reader is drawn into the Henri's world. Unfortunately, she never quite realizes her own beauty or worth. Henri has a lot of dark nightmares, and is haunted by the past she so desperately wants to forget. Elizabeth Reyes has created a world and a setting so believable that the reader is there every moment, wanting to wipe the tears off of Henri's face, and say, "I promise everything is going to be okay." 

The other main character in the book is Aaron. Aaron is the older brother of one of Henri's friends named Beatriz, is a fireman, and has his own business. Beatriz is a bit immature for her 19 years, and is in the middle of Aaron's business with his long time girlfriend since high school named Mia. Although Aaron and Mia are best friends, there is no fire in the relationship, other than the normal growing pains all men go through in their high school years. Their relationship is comfortable, and they both seem to like it that way. They have a good chemistry, can laugh, talk easily, have fun, but something is always missing. Aaron questions himself more than once over the dilemma. 

During a New Years Party at Bea's house, Henri meets the gorgeously put together older brother, Aaron. She is smitten by him, and he with her. The fireworks fly, though neither act on anything, but it leaves the essence from their sizzling connection in the air for what may come in future segments. This segment is earth shattering, sad, loving, sweet, and an amazing page turner. I would be remiss if I didn't say that Ms. Reyes, Queen of Romance, has gone out on a limb with this serial, and she has done a magnificently touching job!!! I am definitely in for the long haul, and can't wait to see what is in store for all of these wonderful 3 dimensional characters.

Defining Love, by Elizabeth Reyes, is the first volume in her brand new serial series. I have to admit that I am not a big fan of serials. I usually wait until all the volumes are released to start reading the story. I do make some exceptions and, this is one since Elizabeth Reyes is one of my favorite authors. I have read the author's posts about this serial and the more she was talking about it, the more I got nervous and excited!!! I knew that this was going to be different from what she has published in the past. I could not wait to see what kind of reading escape this serial was going to be.

In this serial we follow Henrietta ''Henri'', and Aaron. Henri has been through many ups and down since she was young. Life has not always been easy for her, but at age nineteen she finds the strength to move on from the events that have happened in her life. Aaron is in his late twenties and his life is going according to plan. He's a firefighter, he just started his new business and he's in a serious relationship with a woman who has been his best friend for years. When Henri is invited to spend New Year's Eve at her friend's house she accepts the invitation because she's going through yet another difficult moment. What she did not expect at this party was to meet mysterious and intriguing Aaron, which is her friend's older brother. They have a conversation that will leave them both thinking about each other days after they have met. 

This first volume is all about getting to know the main characters. They each have a journey of their own until the moment where they meet for the first time. You get to know them pretty well as characters. I am positive that the next volumes in this serial will give us all the feels. Elizabeth Reyes' writing style is pretty amazing and she always delivers a romance that makes you wish you were a part of the story.

I don't really like to give anything away about a story, because I feel like each reader needs to discover the story on their own. What I will tell you is that both Henri and Aaron are in serious relationships and that their unforgettable meeting is making them feel things they never expected to feel. Their chemistry was instant when they met. They felt comfortable around each other. They felt a connection to each other, and they can't explain it. There is a twist in the story that the author included that you won't see coming! This was a great first volume. The ending will leave you wanting more, and I seriously can't wait to see what happens next!
