GR's Summary:

Perfect for readers of Colleen Hoover, Jay Crownover, and K. A. Tucker, the first novel in this darkly sexy contemporary series from bestselling author Monica Murphy kicks off an emotionally powerful two-part tale of forbidden love.

Crazy how eight years can disappear in an instant. One look at Katie Watts, and I’m a fifteen-year-old again—the one who risked everything to save a terrified girl from her twisted kidnapper. She’s grown-up now—beautiful, quiet, composed—and telling her story to the world. A story that involves me in more ways than you can imagine. She used to call me her guardian angel. Sure, I risked my life, but she was worth dying for.

I need to make contact with her.

Just to ensure that she’s safe.

Somehow we reconnect. We become friends . . . but I want more. I want to make her mine. And she wants me too. Does she know who I am? Has she figured me out? Not yet. But she will. In the meantime, I need to make sure that whatever hold that animal had on her is gone.

So, yeah, I’m stealing these moments with her. Savoring them. Knowing, dreading, that she’ll soon find out who I really am. And everything will fall apart. All because of that twisted, perverted monster sitting on death row. Her kidnapper. A convicted serial killer.

My father.

My Thoughts:

I am a huge fan of Monica Murphy's writing.  Any book that has her name on it is an auto read for me.  When I saw the beautiful book cover and then read the intriguing book summary for, Never Tear Us Apart, I had to get my hands on it. I have always been fascinated by the criminal mind, and it's hard to fathom how deranged, psychotic, and sadistic an individual can be.

Never Tear Us Apart begins in the present.  Katherine "Katie" Watts is being interviewed by a prominent news figure.  As she reflects back to eight years in her past, we learn about her abduction, rape, and traumatizing abuse at the hands of a sadistic serial killer.  The story then alternates between the present and the past, as well as between Katie and Will/Ethan (her abductor's son's) point of view.

Never Tear Us Apart was filled with angst and a vast array of emotions.   We go on Katie's journey with her as she deals with the traumatic after effects from her abduction.  As she attends weekly therapy sessions, she is working on dealing with her fears, and trying to learn how to empower herself, heal, and live a happy life.

Will has tried to move on from being his father's son.  He has permanently changed his name to Ethan, and lives a new life where he has separated himself from his past.  He has never stopped thinking about Katie, and when he see's her interview, wants to see that she is okay.  He tracks her down, but is scared that she will not want to see him, if she knows who he really is.  Therefore, he introduces himself as Ethan, and is not recognized due to the fact that he has changed so much from eight years ago.

Ethan can't seem to stay away from Katie; nor she him.  They share a connection, and Katie doesn't know what it is, but Ethan makes her feel protected and comfortable around him.  As Ethan and Katie spend time with one another, he is patient, kind, and sensitive to her needs.  I loved how devoted and protective he was of Katie, but it bothered me that he kept his past identity a secret.  Katie was realistic and multifaceted character.  I enjoyed seeing her experience romantic  feelings and desire for the first time.  I admired her strength, resilience, and determination to heal.

The story was slow building, and primarily focused on the emotions and thoughts of the two main characters.  Never Tear Us Apart had a to be continued ending.

My Rating:

I give, Never Tear Us Apart, by Monica Murphy 4 Emotional, Resilient, Sweet Patient Love Filled Stars!  I am looking forward to reading, Never Let You Go, and seeing how Ethan and Katie's story ends.  These two deserve a happily ever after.

Taming Lily
The Fowler Sisters, #3
by Monica Murphy

Release Date:

July 7th, 2015

Publisher:

Random House LLC

Synopsis:

Perfect for fans of Christina Lauren, Emma Chase, and Maya Banks, the anticipated finale in New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy’s sexy contemporary romance series about three fiery and determined sisters with their own ideas about life and love.

I’m in trouble. Again. And instead of facing my problems head-on, I’ve run away. Far away this time, and no one can catch me—not my two younger sisters, Violet and Rose, not my father, my grandmother, or that witch Pilar who wants to take control of my family’s cosmetics company. Now I’m in Hawaii, enjoying the sun and sand and water, where nobody knows the hot mess known as Lily Fowler. And I’m loving every minute of it.

But someone is watching me. Following me. He’s gorgeous. Soon we’re talking, and against all my instincts, I reveal bits and pieces of myself to Max. It feels good, though I know he can’t be the man for me. These sudden feelings we share are way too complicated, too fraught, too intense.

Then everything explodes and I’m forced to return home. My intentions have always been true, but now everyone’s mad at me. I don’t know who to turn to anymore . . . except to Max. He’s the one I want to trust. But I’m not so sure I should. Maybe it’s worth the risk—what-ifs be damned. . . .

My Thoughts:

Taming Lily is the third and final installment in The Fowler Sisters series.  Each story is about a different Fowler sister and their romantic interest.  I loved Owning Violet, and Stealing Rose was my favorite of the series.  Therefore, I was looking forward to getting the oldest sister, Lily's story.  Even though each story focuses on a different sister, you still need to read these in sequential order, because there is an overall story thread that plays out in this series.

Lily is the black sheep of the family.  She is known for partying, sleeping around, and making the headlines.  However, at the heart of Lily lies a woman with profound loneliness, and the desperate need to be loved and accepted for who she is.  Lily meets the sexy and mysterious Max Coleman, while on vacation in Maui.  These two fall in to an erotic love affair.  However, what Lily doesn't realize is that there is a whole lot more to Max than meets the eye....

Taming Lily was a light, and sizzling hot read.  It is perfect if you are in the mood for a sexy, and white hot erotic story.  I would have liked more romance with the sexy times, as well as more to the plot concerning the situation with Pilar.  However, I was excited to get reacquainted with Violet, Ryder, Rose, and Caden.  I especially enjoyed the close knit bond that was shared between Lily and Rose.  The ending was romantic, yet left open-ended enough that the author could add to it, if she eventually wanted to.

My Rating:

I give, Taming Lily, by Monica Murphy, 3.5 Sexy, Erotic, and Naughty Stars!

GR's Summary:

Perfect for fans of Christina Lauren and Emma Chase—the second novel in New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy’s sizzling series about three powerhouse sisters and the men who would have their hearts.

People say the youngest child has it easy, but nothing can be further from the truth. Unlike my two sisters, Violet and Lily, I’m never in the limelight. I just work my butt off for Fleur Cosmetics and get little to no thanks for it. I’ve been pushed too far one too many times, and I’m finally brave enough to do something about it.

Maybe my newfound courage has something to do with the amazing pink and white diamond necklace I wear to the party in Cannes. The instant those dazzling heirloom jewels touch my skin, they excite some deep, aching need inside. And when that guy—that totally gorgeous guy—locks eyes with me, I know this nice girl is going to be naughty.

For once it’s my turn. My turn to say no to my father, to outshine my sisters, to walk away from it all—straight into the arms of a mysterious stranger. But what if Caden is much more than I bargained for? Sure, he makes me feel sexy and free in a way I never have before, but there’s something else I can’t quite place—something dangerous. Maybe our “chance” meeting wasn’t so random. Maybe he was looking for me for a reason. Whatever his motive, there’s no going back now.

And maybe I don’t want to.

My Thoughts:

Monica Murphy is one of my go to authors when I want a guaranteed great read!  I loved her One Week Girlfriend Series, and Billionaire Bachelors Club Series.  The Fowler Sisters is another great series that has been a pleasure to read!

In Owning Violet, we got the middle Fowler sister's story.  She is the quiet, serious, hard working sister, who has a passion for working up the ranks in the Fleur Cosmetics family business.  In Stealing Rose, we get the youngest Fowler sister's story.  Rose is unhappy and feels under-appreciated working for the family business in New York.  She is use to working hard, and following all of the rules.  When she goes to Cannes for a celebration honoring her grandmother, she meets the gorgeous, sexy and mysterious, Caden.  The chemistry between them sizzles, but then he abruptly leaves the party.

When Rose decides to get away from her father and the family company, she takes up Violet on her offer to come to the London site of Fleur Cosmetics.  She can work when she wants, and take off time whenever she needs.  While Rose is in London, she runs in to Caden.  They have a blazing hot passionate affair.  However, Caden is very secretive, and Rose doesn't know anything about him.  As they begin spending a lot of time together, feelings grow, Rose begins to share her life, and while Caden begins to share a little bit with Rose, he still has his secrets.  Do Rose and Caden have a future together?  Or, will Caden's secret destroy the amazing relationship that they have built with one another?

Stealing Rose was about a sexy and passionate romance.  It was sensual, seductive, and filled with long bouts of spontaneous, and erotic love making.  It was the a page-turning treat that was easy to get entranced in.  I enjoyed having Violet and Ryder, the main characters from the first book, in this sequel.  I enjoyed the dynamic amongst the sisters.  We get to see the close bond that Rose shares with Violet, as well as how Rose and Lily become closer to one another at the end of the story.

My Rating:

I give, Stealing Rose, by Monica Murphy 4.5 Decadent, Intoxicating, White Hot Passion Filled Stars!  I love The Fowler Sisters Series, and am looking forward to reading about Lily, the oldest Fowler sister!

Book Excerpt:

“So he left you? After he kissed you? And you don’t know who he is.” Violet shakes her head. “That’s just odd.”
“I know. I never did catch his name.” I tap the edge of my pen against my pursed lips, hating that I know nothing about this man beyond what he tastes like . . . what it feels like to be touched by him. His hands, his finger seared my skin, he imprinted himself on me with the slightest touch, and just thinking about him and what he made me feel leaves me heady with desire.
     So ridiculous.
“Hmm. Have you ever considered that maybe he’s the one who stole that bracelet from the woman at the party?” Violet asks, her expression one of genuine concern.
I adore my sister. I really do. She was more like a mother to me since I never knew ours, and Lily couldn’t be bothered with me. But too often, Violet is like an overprotective nanny who won’t let me play on the swing set at the playground. I can’t even appreciate it anymore. It feels too cloying.
     I hate it.
“Why would he spend time with me like that if he’d just stolen a valuable piece of jewelry?” I roll my eyes and drop my pen on top of Violet’s desk so that it rolls back toward me. I snatch it up, tapping it against the edge of her desk so that she sends me an annoyed glare. “Come on, you’re reaching.”
“You never know. There were all sorts of unsavory people in Cannes.” Violet mock shudders. “One man tried to hit on me. I had to hold back Ryder for fear he would beat his face in if I let him go.” I love it.
Ryder is so possessive of Violet. Not in a creepy, controlling way but in a he-loves-her-so-much-he-can’t-live- without-her way. “Wish I could’ve seen that.”
