Synopsis:

Since the beginning of time, tales have been told about Eden. But all the stories are wrong.

Running parallel alongside Earth, but never touching, there exists not just a garden, but an entire world of vivid colours and breathtaking beauty where the Seraph reside.

Jazmine has lived in ten different foster homes, in ten different towns and all her life she has felt like she doesn’t belong – not in the trailer park which happens to be foster home number ten, not anywhere on Earth.

After a universe shattering revelation, she discovers why. Far from being the nothing and no one, with no past and no future, that Jazmine had always believed herself to be, she discovers that she is in fact an heir to one of the seven remaining Seraph Dynasties.

She is Jazmine Evenstar, the last heir to the sovereign Evenstar Dynasty.

Thrust into the world of wealth and privilege in which the impossibly beautiful and equally cruel Dynasty heirs reside, Jazmine is forced to manoeuvre the tangled web that holds the Dynasties together.

Against the backdrop of breathtaking star filled nights, sweeping coastlines, grand marble halls and decadent palaces, Jazmine tries to find her place in this beautiful new world whilst fighting not to lose herself in the process.

But the fairy tale quickly unravels.

Half human and the illegitimate daughter of the late suicide King of Eden, the other Dynasty heirs make it clear that Jazmine does not belong in their world.

Raphael St. Tristan, heir to the rival sovereign St. Tristan Dynasty and next in line to the throne of Eden, the guy with the face of an angel but who is as wicked as the devil himself, promises to break her.

Jazmine quickly learns that the beauty of Eden is nothing but a deception as she uncovers the secrets festering at the heart of it. But can she disentangle herself from the web of deception and intrigue that the Dynasty heirs have spun? Can she stop herself from falling into Raphael St. Tristan’s trap before he can fulfil his promise to shatter her completely? Or are those stories about Eden true after all and will she be foolish enough to taste the forbidden fruit that is Eden itself?

Review:

I'm always trying to find new authors that will deliver all the feels with their words. This is M.J. Prince's debut novel and OMG!!! Does it deliver!!!! This book landed on my TBR list after one of my lovely book sisters made the recommendation. She said that Secret Heir was an unputdownable read and since we have similar tastes in books, I wanted to read it as well.

I had no expectations going into this book other than wanting to escape in a page-turning reading journey. The author's writing style captivated me from the very beginning. I was transported to Eden and took this unforgettable journey along with Jazmine. I'm still looking for words after that ending. Holy mother of all cliffhangers!!! Where do I go from here?? I have so many questions and I'm craving for the answers. I have no clue when Shattered Heir will release, but I need it ASAP!!!

Secret Heir is the first installment of the Dynasty Series. This fantasy romance is set in high school and reads as a mature YA/NA novel. Jazmine's life is a mess. Since her mother's death, she's been living from one foster home to another. At seventeen, she's tired of this life. She craves that freedom that is just around the corner the moment she turns eighteen. The beginning of her senior year takes an unexpected turn when somebody she never expected to meet shows up in her life. Her grandfather reveals to her where she really belongs.

Eden is a place full of mystery, secrets and enemies that want to see Jazmine gone. At the top of that list of enemies? Raphael St. Tristan, heir to the sovereign St. Tristan Dynasty. He's all trouble and a temptation that is driving Jazmine crazy. Eden is ready for her, but will Jazmine be ready to step up and embrace her role as the heir of the Evenstar Dynasty?

Jazmine was a strong and confident heroine. I loved her from the very beginning. She goes after what she wants and nobody gets in her way. I was fascinated by her journey to Eden and I felt everything she did. I was more than just a reader during this reading journey. I felt like I was another character in the book. Don't even get me started on Raph! Sweet baby Jesus!! I was mesmerized by him just like Jazmine was. Their chemistry is so intense and chill inducing! *Fans face* This enemies-to-lovers story will leave you at the edge of your seat! The last few pages left me gasping for air and wanting more of all the characters in this story.

The author not only wrote two phenomenal lead characters, but she did a fantastic job with the supporting cast of characters as well. I want to know so much more about all of them. I hope that each of the heirs get their own book. I hope that we get to see more duels in the next book. The training duels in elements class were very interesting and I want to know more about what these heirs are able to do. This is a series that will keep me checking all the social media sites for updates. M.J. Prince did a fantastic job with Secret Heir and I highly recommend it if your looking for your next unputdownable read.

Rating:

I give, Secret Heir, by M.J. Prince, 4.5 intense, captivating, passionate, fantasy-filled stars!
