Review:

Text 2 Lovers was such a fun, sexy and charming reading escape! I’m a big fan of rom-com because it always leaves me with a smile on my face and tears running down my face from laughing too much. I have never read anything by J.D. Hollyfield so I was excited to discover her writing style. K. Webster is an author that I have been following for a few months. Her War & Peace Series, which is extremely dark, captivated me and never let me go. This was a great reading escape and a big BRAVO goes to this fantastic duo. J.D. Hollyfield and K. Webster’s collaboration is going to leave bookworms all over the world cheering for more!

Have you ever received a text by mistake? I did. It did not turn out like what happens in Text 2 Lovers though. Mine was a simple mistake and I never heard of that person again. It’s a different scenario for Dani and Ram. In a moment of anger, Dani sends a drunk text to her ex-boyfriend. There is only one problem ... she send it to the wrong number. The person who is replying to her is making her feel things. He puts a smile on her face and gives her butterflies in her stomach. As days go by, their texts turn into something more. Their first ‘’real’’ meeting is explosive and their chemistry is instant. Dani and Ram are each going through some difficult moments in their respective lives and whatever is happening between them is a breath of fresh air that they welcome with open arms.

Dani and Ram are so freakin’ adorable together!!! Their love story gave me all the feels and I was cheering for their HEA from the very beginning. It was fun to see them exchange text messages and when they finally decided to take things to another level? OMG!! *Fans Self* These two lovebirds are FIRE together! Ram is a naughty dirty talker that made Dani feel confident and I loved that he made her step out of her comfort zone. He’s also very romantic and what he did for Dani (Her favorite things) made me swoon so hard!!! Gah!! That was so romantic and heart-melting!

This story was a fantastic mix of sweet, fun, emotional, steamy moments. It was a page-turning journey that I highly recommend. I’m super excited about the next collaboration this duo will have. Hate 2 Lovers will be Andie and Roman’s book. These two are extremely sexy together and their verbal foreplay, even if they insult each other more than anything else, left me cheering for them as well. Pick this book up! Smiles and fun time guaranteed!

I give, Text 2 Lovers, by J.D. Hollyfield & K. Webster, 4 hilarious, sexy, swoony, romantic, charming stars!

Heaven & Hell Series:

Review of Hell and Back HERE

Excerpt:

Chapter Fourteen
Mick

I stand back and watch Marissa do her thing. As soon as we got back to her place, she went straight into Lori’s room. She walked around, inspecting things, checking to see if anything was out of place. I can see how much she hopes for this search to be different, for things to be out of place. Her shoulders droop in disappointment when she realizes that everything is exactly as it was the last time she checked. Watching that hope in her eyes quickly fade back to sorrow guts me. Looking up at me with tears brimming in her eyes, she quietly says, “She hasn’t come back yet.”

“I’m going to get her back to you.” It’s not like we haven’t been trying, it’s just been one dead end after another. One minute we think we have something, only for it to turn out to be nothing. She nods her head.

“I’m going to change and then we can go,” she says as she walks past me, leaving me in the room by myself. I walk around, taking in all the little ‘booby traps’ that she set up. The scotch tape on the drawers, the picture frames with strings attached to them, all in the hopes that she’ll come home and realize that Lori had been there. I can’t even imagine what that constant level of worry and devastation would do to me. I never really thought that I would be the kind of man who cared so much about children, but Lilah changed that for me. She really is the perfect kid.

Walking the room once more, I notice that her clothes haven’t been washed. She doesn’t want to touch anything. I’m about to sit on the bed and see if maybe there is something here that we’ve missed when she walks into the room.

“I’m ready,” she tells me, and I take in her outfit. Gone is the skirt she wore to work, and in its place are tight blue jeans that mold to her body with a bulky sweater that gathers at her waist. The look is finished with a pair of black Chucks. Her hair is tied high on her head in a ponytail, and her makeup free face makes her look like she’s a teenager herself.

“Can I say something before we leave?” I ask her, waiting for her nod. “We get out there, the minute I feel something isn’t safe, I’m stepping in. I don’t want you to get all huffy and puffy. I need you to trust me, trust my instincts and my experience. I want to find something that leads us to Lori just as much as you do, but I’ll do it without compromising your safety.” The minute I say that, her head cocks to the side, and she crosses her arms over her chest. I don’t give her a chance to give me attitude before I continue. “You get me?”

“I can take care of myself.”

“I have no doubt that you can, Marissa, but now you have me to help with that. So just give me this, yeah?” The question hangs in the air for a couple of minutes before she finally gives in. “Fine, I’ll give you this,” she says. “But you can’t scare these people off. If you go into cop mode with them, they won’t talk.”

I walk to her, grabbing her face in my hands. “We are going to get her back. I promise you.” She nods her head as I lean down and kiss her lips. I was going for a soft kiss, but the minute she leans into me, my body takes over. One arm wraps around her waist as my mouth opens to tangle her tongue with mine. Our tongues dance together, both of us trying to get the upper hand over the other. She pulls back from me and breathlessly says, “We should go.” She licks her lips before walking to her purse and pulling out two pictures along with her keys. “Ready.” I follow her out the door, watching as she locks it.

We walk out of her building, and I guide her to my car with a hand on her lower back as I take in our surroundings, making sure that no one is watching us. I hate that she lives here, but I know that she isn’t going anywhere till Lori comes back. I don’t even have to ask her to know that if Lori never came back, she would stay there her whole life waiting, just in case. But I make a mental note to discuss it with her when I bring Lori back.

“Where to first?” I ask her while starting the car and merging into traffic.

“I usually start at the soup kitchen down on 5th Street. If there aren’t that many people there, I go to the homeless shelter down the street before doubling back to the soup kitchen. After that, I go to the alley behind the bodega on 7th Avenue—” The second she says it, I lose my shit.

“Are you fucking telling me that you’ve been down to pier warehouse next to the alley near the bodega? By yourself? AT NIGHT?” The thought of her down there at night by herself sends chills down my spine. Homeless men, women, and junkies gather there, many of them getting drunk or high. It’s fucking dangerous down there, even for me, and I’m a fucking cop with a weapon and experience. I get that she’s worried and feels like she has to do something, anything, to help bring her daughter home, but I am furious that she is so reckless with her safety. I need to take a few calming breaths so I don’t lash out at her.

“What if one of them saw her? What if she was there? I have to do what I have to do. If you have an issue with this, maybe you should just drop me off so I can get what I need to do done.” She continues, “You think this is the first time I’ve done this? I’ve been on these streets every day since she left. I don’t have enough energy left in me to argue with you right now. So are you driving me or not?”

I don’t answer her. I’m still deep breathing. Instead, I start making a list in my head. Change the lock on her front door, follow up on Lori’s Facebook page, and investigate all of her friends, turn her ass pink before fucking her raw. My mind lingers on that last item on my to-do list. Thoughts of her lying across my lap, her ass in the air, pink from my hand, and her drenched pussy ready and waiting for me has my cock springing to life and throbbing in my pants.

“Okay, Mick, just spit it out. What’s on your mind right now?” she asks as she turns her body in her seat toward me.

“Honestly?” I ask her, not sure she really wants to know. She glares at me, her eyes practically shooting daggers at me. “I was thinking a couple of things. First, I need to change the lock on your door. It can be picked open easily with a spoon, that’s how weak it is. Then I was thinking about digging deeper into Lori’s Facebook friends. Finally, I was thinking about how pink I’m going to turn your ass if you ever go back down there without me again.” I pin her with my own glare before I turn my eyes back to the road.

“Turn my ass pink?”

“Turn your ass pink. With you laid across my lap, I’ll use my hand to turn that perfect little ass a pretty shade of pink.” I stop at a red light and assess her. A second more and I would have missed the pink of her cheeks, the hitch of her breath, the way she pressed her legs together tight. “Right before I fuck you,” I say, and even I can hear the huskiness in my voice.

“I haven’t had sex since Lori’s dad left,” she says without meeting my eyes. My mouth hangs open as she continues, “Which was a long, long time ago.” I don’t say anything because I hear a honk behind me. Looking up, I see that the light has changed to green. “Just so you know, if you thought that I slept around, I don’t.” The last part is whispered softly as she turns in her seat again to stare out the window.

I pull over into an empty parking lot, reach over to unbuckle her seat belt, and pull her into my lap. “Look at me, Marissa, and hear what I’m saying. I was a dick when I first met you.” She places her hands on my chest, her thumbs stroking it gently. “I can’t take that back, but what I can promise is that I will always treat you with respect. I will treat you like a queen, my queen, because that is what you deserve. You deserve that and so much more.” I kiss her on the tip of her nose. “Let me in, Marissa,” I ask her quietly, holding my breath as my heart pounds so loudly, I’m certain she can hear it. “Let me in, baby, so I can do all of that for you and more.”

“Lori is my life. The reason I never dated was because I didn’t want her to see a revolving door of men. I wanted her to know that love is special and something worth waiting for. Something that should be cherished if you’ve been lucky enough to find it. But mostly I wanted her to know that she came first, always. She’s my baby even though she’s almost an adult. So I can only tell you that I will try, but I can’t make you promises till she comes home. Till I hold her in my arms again. I can’t let you into my heart because it’s shattered. It’s in pieces and the longer I’m without her, the harder it will be to put the pieces back together. Because you, Mick, you deserve my whole heart, and I can’t give that to you yet.”

“Let me be there for you, Marissa. Let me hold your hand, let me hold you, let me guard the pieces of your heart till she comes back. I’ll take them, one piece at a time, until I have the whole thing.”

She doesn’t say anything else to me, just rests her cheek on my chest and nods. She pulls back and kisses me on the nose. “Can we please go and see what we can find out about my girl?” She climbs back into her seat and buckles her seat belt. “Chop chop! Let’s go, Moro!”

I let out a laugh, feeling lighter than I have in a long fucking time. I buckle my seat belt and put my car into drive, heading straight to the first stop on her list, hoping and praying that tonight is the night we get a lead.

Review:

It seems just like yesterday that I read Natasha Madison’s first book. She left her mark in book town less than a year ago and she’s not stopping anything soon! Every new book that she releases is an unforgettable reading journey. Her books are filled with love stories that are emotional, intense, passionate and captivating.

Pieces of Heaven follows Marissa and Mick. Sexy detective meets single mom looking for her missing daughter. When Mick Moro is assigned to a missing person case, the last thing he expected was to find Marissa. She’s strong, confident and will do whatever it takes to get her daughter back. Mick can’t explain the pull he feels towards her. Their relationship is rocky from the start, but the urge to protect her is stronger than anything he has ever felt. As day go by, Marissa and Mick grow closer together. They belong together, but the past always has a way of catching up and creating chaos unexpectedly. How will they react to the obstacles that life has put on the path of their HEA?

Pieces of Heaven is the second book in Natasha Madison’s Heaven and Hell Series. The first book, Hell and Back, was such an emotional reading journey. Bella and Jackson’s love story was beautiful and I highly recommend that you read it before reading Pieces of Heaven. The beginning of PoH is a bit of a recap of what happened in HaB. I don’t think you will be lost if you don’t read it before, but I highly recommend you do so you can feel a deeper connection with all the characters.

Marissa and Mick were introduced in the first book so I was excited when I found out that they were getting their book next. I was curious to see why Mick was acting a certain way. It was interesting to read his POV and what was going on in his life. Marissa was a heroine that I loved to read about. Her story is a difficult one to read and my heart broke for her on many occasions. Life has not been easy for her. Mick was a protective and fierce hero. I loved how he took care of Marissa and how he took a step towards a future with her. His past relationship was intoxicating and it marked him for a long time.

I’m very happy with the way the author wrote their story and the twist and turns in this story were great! It was a pleasure to reunite with Bella, Lilah and Jackson. A fantastic supporting cast of character is always a big plus for me and this book had plenty of amazing characters to fall in love with. PoH was a great addition to the Heaven and Hell Series!

Rating:

I give, Pieces of Heaven, by Natasha Madison, 4.5 intriguing, suspenseful, angsty, love comes when you least expect it stars!

Zeke Daniels isn't just a douchebag; he's an asshole.

A total and complete jerk, Zeke keeps people at a distance. He has no interest in relationships—most assholes don’t.
Dating? Being part of a couple? Nope. Not for him.
He's never given any thought to what he wants in a girlfriend, because he's never had any intention of having one.
Shit, he barely has a relationship with his family, and they're related; his own friends don’t even like him.
So why does he keep thinking about Violet DeLuca?
Sweet, quiet Violet—his opposite in every sense of the word. The light to his dark, even her damn name sounds like rays of sunshine and happiness and shit.

And that pisses him off, too.

Excerpt:

The clock on the wall counts the seconds, steady as the rhythm of my beating heart, which thumps wildly within my chest until the glass door to the library opens, propelled by a gust of wind.

Some new fallen leaves flutter in, the heavy doors slamming from the draft.

Along with them? Zeke Daniels.

He shuffles in, dark gray sweatpants hanging low on his hips, black Iowa Wrestling hoodie pulled up over his head, the university’s bright yellow mascot screen-printed across the chest. Backpack slung over one shoulder, black athletic flip-flops, and a pair of black sunglasses perched on the bridge of his strong nose complete the overall ensemble.

He is utterly…ridiculous.

Unapproachable.

Daunting.

His arrogance knows no bounds; I can see it in his loose gait, the exaggerated swagger, and the too-casual way he’s dragging his flip-flops across the cold, marble tile floor. It’s noisy, irritating, and completely uncalled for.

In the moment, my mind drifts to his personal life, and I theorize that he listens to heavy metal music to sooth his foul temperament, drinks his coffee black—as black as his soul—and his liquor straight up. I imagine once he’s had sex with someone, they’re never invited back. I go one step further and theorize that they’re never invited to spend the night at his place, either.

Zeke Daniels makes his way to a table at the far end of the room, near the periodicals, one out of the way with plenty of privacy.

Sets his bag down in one of the four wooden chairs. Flicks on the small study lamp. Plugs his laptop cord into the base and stands.

Turns.

Our eyes would have met then were it not for those ludicrous sunglasses. I choose the exact moment he lifts his gaze to look down at the ground. Busy myself with shuffling papers on the counter. Count to ten instead of chanting, Please don’t come over, please don’t come over, please don’t come over…

But luck isn’t on my side because he most decidedly does.

Makes his way over like a predator at a pace so deliberate, I’m convinced he’s doing it on purpose. As if he suspects I’m watching from under my long lashes, dreading his imminent arrival.

He basks in my discomfort.

The distance between us closes, his strides purposeful.

Twenty feet.

Fifteen.

Ten.

Eight.

Three.

His large hand reaches up, pushing down the hood of his sweatshirt, his fingertips pinching the earpiece of his sunglasses and pulling them off his face. My eyes follow the movements as he folds them closed, hanging them on the neckline of his hoodie.

His gaze lingers—those clear gray eyes famous around campus—and finds the shiny silver bellhop bell perched on the counter with the sign next to it that reads, Ring for help.

Ding.

The tip of his forefinger presses down on the small bell.

Ding.

He hits it again, despite me standing not three feet in front of him.

What an ass.

Review:

I put adulting on hold for two nights in a row. I lost sleep. I went to work looking like a zombie. Why? Because I just found the most amazing author and series to follow. I am 100% obsessed with the entire cast of characters from Sara Ney’s How to Date a Douchebag Series. What an incredible reading journey that left my bookworm heart happy and satisfied. One of my reading goals for 2017 was to read as many new-to-me authors as possible. I have never read anything by this author so I was excited to read The Studying Hours and The Failing Hours back-to-back. My social media news feed was full of posts concerning these books and I am so happy that I read this series. Sebastian and Zeke are Douchebag Royalty. If you have not met them yet, you are seriously missing out! Don’t even get me started on Jameson and Violet. These girls are the kind of heroines I love to cheer for.

Zeke Daniels is intimidating and a complete douchebag. Violet DeLuca knows this all too well. She’s been on the receiving end of his bad mood one too many times. Their paths keep on crossing and she’s more confused than ever when it comes to the mystery that is Zeke Daniels. As days go by, Violet and Zeke grow closer together. Their chemistry is explosive and undeniable. Will Violet give in to temptation and fall for Zeke or will she guard her heart and keep her distance?

Gah!!! I loved every single minute of my reading escape. Violet and Zeke are two of the most fascinating characters that I have ever met. They are like night and day. Zeke is moody and he`s a total douche noodle and Violet is sweet, lovable and kind. They both have an intensity that pulls them towards each other and that is why they complete each other to perfection.

Violet was the breath of fresh air that Zeke needed in his life. Each one of her smiles is like a soothing balm on his emotional scars. These characters not only grew as a couple, but as individuals as well. I loved how Violet peeled every single layer that was keeping Zeke prisoner from filing his life with happiness. Zeke was extremely stubborn and I wanted to deliver some much needed virtual slaps his way. OMG!! He fell hard for Violet and that totally melted my heart and made me swoon.

From the captivating writing style to the intoxicating characters, Sara Ney delivered a story that kept me turning the pages from beginning to end! I look forward to reading her next releases and her previous work as well. This series is scoring a place in my favorite list. I will without a doubt read them again soon. If you are looking for your next unputdownable reading escape ... This is it!
